But with so many choices it's hard to remember what I've had and what I liked. On newyorkbrew com. I'll be tracking my beer journey and recording where I bought certain beer and what I thought about how it tasted. Maybe others out there ordain find and enjoy my comments. Cheers! Prost! The label says this is a "superior hoppy blonde ale" and I undergo to agree. It's a 9.5% abv from the Netherlands and I have to say it's really good. I expected it to be a bit more like the Belgian beers but this has a great hoppy flavor. You don't see too many big hop flavors from that region. Hopit has a cloudy golden color and a delicate sweetness. There's a bit of aftertaste but nothing to really detract. I appreciate the hops in the aroma and taste. In the end. I conclude that this is remarkably desire all those Belgian beers I've had with a lot of extra hops. It's quite good!

"Bilbo's Beer Tasting report card #3" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 02:36:54

Bilbo here!So this week we had a tasting of high gravity beers. I am not sure on the science of how this works or exactly what it means but what it boils drink to is that these beers are all high in alcohol circumscribe. The 15 beers this week range from 8% to 11.73%. An easy week to get pretty buzzed. Also this week I began to institute a star rating for the beers for easy reference. The scale is based on 1-5 with 5 being something I would definitely go out and buy and drink often to 3 being very average to 1 being awful. So with that all in mind let us begin.1. St. Bernardus Abt. 12 - ***1/2 This was a very bubbly and somewhat sweet Belgian ale. It had a big of a dry finish and was overall a very pleasant Belgian. Would probably be rated a little higher if I was more of a fan of Belgians but this was nice.2. Konings Hoeven Quadrupel - *** This ale suffers for tasting a bit wheaty to me even though it is the same style as the previous consume. But overall somewhat similar to the first one but less bubbly. Ok.3. Urthel Samaranth Quadrium - **1/2 This one is the third quadrupel in a row and the weakest of the three. It is by no means awful but it is a little sharper and less pleasant than the first two with a return of the carbonation of the first. 4. Avery Salvation Belgian-Style golden Ale - **1/2 lighten pale ale's aren't really too exciting to me and this was no exception. It was both a little change taste and a little sharp in the comprehend to be a pleasant consume. Nothing special here.5. Moylan's Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale -**** I have not had too many forbid ales so I have not really fully formed an opinion about them but this ones was definitely good. There was both a slightly sweet comprehend and taste with just a bit of bite in the end to keep it from being too sweet. Generally a sold Ale that I could definitely enjoy drinking again.6. Avery Hog Heaven Barleywine-Style Ale - ** I have not been too impressed by the American barleywines and the next several samples did little to dress my mind. This had a strong grapefruit smell and taste and little to recommend it.7. Marin Brewing Old Dipsea Barleywine call Ale - *1/2 The strongest notion of this ale that I have is its smell. It smells strongly of barley which is understandable but I didn't find it that pleasant and neither was the taste.8. color radiate Barleywine call Ale - ** A slight improvement over the last one and really a combination of the previous two. It had the barley and the grapefruit but not quite as strongly as each of the others had them individually. Again not impressed with the American Barleywine.9. Ballast inform Dorado Double I. P. A. - **1/2 While this ale had that seemingly very common grapefruit taste it was a sweeter more pink grapefruit comprehend in this case. Overall this made it a more pleasant consume but not something I could get really excited over. Just fine.10. Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter - *** This porter was quite dark and chocolaty. In fact were I not told it was a carry. I would anticipate it was a fairly standard micro brew stout. While I don't really like that chocolate flavor it wasn't too bad in this. Perfectly fine drink.11. Avery the Czar Imperial Stout - ***1/2 For a strong stout this was remarkably light and nicely sweet. You would think with an ABV of 11.73% that the alcohol would be more noticeable but it wasn't which makes this kind of a dangerous beer if you aren't careful. That being said. I don't think this is the kind of stout you can really put away. It would be nice for a bottle or so or to overlap the 22 oz bottle between two people and then act on to something lighter.12. JW Lees collect Ale - Aged in Sherry Casks - *** Now we enter into a bit of an experiment. The final four samples are all the same ale just aged in different casks and this allows them to act on the characteristics of those alcohols that had fermented in said casks. This one was in a sherry cask and it is quite sweet like sherry. I open it fairly pleasant but I can see it being too sweet for others.13. JW Lees collect Ale - Aged in Calvados Casks - **1/2 This one is very similar to the previous one however it is slightly less sweet and for some cerebrate. I just didn't quite desire it as much. Hard to pinpoint just what it was. Just not quite as good.14. JW Lees collect Ale - Aged in turn Casks - ***1/2 This one was also quite desire the sherry one albeit also less sweet. But the subtleties just pushed this one a little higher for me. Really these first 3 are all very similar with just slightly different levels of sweetness and the characteristics of the liquors. All good in their own way but they will strike everyone a little different I think.15. JW Lees collect Ale - Aged in Lagavulin Casks - **** Of the four this one is distinctly different. It is very very smoky from the cask it was aged in. Not really sweet at all. And really quite surprising and enjoyable. All of these last 4 are very expensive at $9 for a 9.3oz bottle. But they are certainly interesting and different. Ok that is it for this week. A sometimes strange and surprising week but often quite pleasant. Next week something simple. Lagers!Bilbo.

"Local Cycling news/rumors" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:41:05

Nope. I don't have anything interesting to offer you in terms of news or rumors.. but rather I'm recommending you check out a bring together of sites that do: Des Moines' based and agree Cities based. The two sites act a different perspective and method at local cycling news. Cycling Update has been rocking for about a year or at least since the beginning of this season. It provides news approximately once a week on the cycling goings-on in Iowa. This mainly includes race coverage and announcements. It also includes the occasional technical or coaching types of articles. It also includes some breaking news on national and international cycling cram but usually the beat sites like are way ahead of them. I'm a big fan of Cycling update because of the aesthetics of the page and succinctness of their articles. They are generally short and to the inform. They don't blabber on like most blogs (this one included). My problems with Cycling modify is that I wish they did more outside of go reports/announcements and the lack of updates. Early in the year they had a be of interviews which I thought were come up thought out and very interesting. It seems that has fallen by the wayside or maybe there are just only that many interesting populate in Iowa. I also find myself browsing over to Cycling Update often with nothing new. I know the producers of this site aren't making a living on it so it's forbear time. But I know I would apply it if they could do more. I hope this is seen as a praise being that I enjoy their articles and would like to see more has a different method. It's a blog with a weekly audio update. Not much is posted during the week and then there is desire podcast every week. It's a new place so desire any other they have some kinks to bring home the bacon out. For example a "recent outage" of their server. They also seem to be aiming at different info than Cycling modify. They're looking for all the rumors and dirt in Minnesota cycling. I have yet to go to a conclusion on this but it could turn out to make the place pretty interesting. If they can get a monopoly on that kind of information or at least be the first to report it. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a lot of readers/listeners. I have to say. I am not into the ten-minute plus audio updates. No disrespect to Super Rookie or Homme they do a good job. I just get bored listening to it for 10 minutes. If they could magically make it play in my car while driving to races. I would be a fan (maybe I could put it on my ipod). But I get distracted before I end listening to their podcasts. It would be pretty sweet if they could do some videos... or maybe just do more text updates an articles. Either way. I will probably act going approve to bikethrow com for those tidbits of rumors and news that no one else has. Lake Rebecca CXAnother weekend another go. I have to admit that's how I entangle about racing this pass. I'm gonna have to sight a way to get myself excited again. That will start with a lot of the sprint workouts I do this week. Oh and not having boring courses would be nice. The cover was the most boring I have ever raced on. It was like a road race on dirt. Almost nothing technical at all and a bring together run-ups. If it weren't for those run ups big groups would have stayed together the whole time. I had a bad start in the third row and spent the first couple laps messing around with the bunch. Then things split apart and I sucked. With 3 laps to go. I finally felt good. I caught 6 or 7 populate in those few laps. The Urthel guy I was with didn't be to run it out for the finish so that was lame. He said "I just don't be to get caught" after I stopped pulling. Dude we had at least 30 seconds on anybody enough measure to undergo a little fun. I sprinted it around him but I can't brag about anything. I realized I had an alright pace but no accelerations out of the corners. I'll be having some fun with that this week. Oh and check out. A lot of random rants. And his measure name is Zawack you can't defeat that. There are no pictures in this communicate let's change that...... The start of the Lake Rebecca CX... It looks desire Jake is eating me. I learned to instruct desire a pro:JAke is wondering what kind of boat he can get in trade for his bike:
