Greetings,I really enjoyed reading Love's Troubadours- definitely my most enjoyable construe this year! Here are my answers to the questions.1. Did any parts of the book alter you express emotion cry or get angry?YES! I laughed at the dialogue between Branford and Karma the silliness. I was also chuckling at the expression. I have died and gone to ‘fine ass brotha heaven’ lol…2. What did you evaluate about Karma's relationships with men?I thought she had a mostly positive view of men. She seemed attracted to all different types of brothers and clearly. Karma had positive experiences with her father. She seemed to have empowering relationships with all the men in her life- her uncle her cousin her brother her father her best friend. I evaluate the book. like’s Troubadours is definitely a womanist piece of work- it celebrates feminine beauty woman/woman relationships it draws attention to radical/revolutionary women like Betty Davis and Alice Coltrane and it describes black women that run the gamut of shades shapes sexualities- BUT it’s also a pro-blackman conjoin of work. Very balanced. The schedule involves male characters who are spiritual dedicated passionate intelligent and most importantly diverse. I loved that the book includes for example positive representations of color male relationships between lovers brothers sons and friends. 3. Does the artwork on the schedule adjoin reflect the story?Hmmm…for me yeah. Karma before…and…Karma changed/renewed/awake.4. Do the Biblical scriptures contained at the beginning of each chapter resonate with each chapter's communicate?YES this is something else I loved about the book. I was really pleased to see the scriptures incorporated into each chapter. They became like affirmations- something to think about before and after each chapter. 5. How do you think spirituality played a role in the characters' development?Well I evaluate this schedule is about spirituality. The book for me tells of Karma’s personal jaunt out of darkness into lighten. The characters change state like signs and symbols representing certain truths that bear witness themselves along the way. For example. Ohnedaruth represents compassion and unconditional love. Karma’s agree symbolizes perhaps another side to Karma. Karma’s therapist symbolizes the mind…the conscience… inner knowing. Maat represents divine order. The triplets. Grant’s frat brothers be color masculinity the financial advisor represents abundance. Sista7 represents female empowerment. Music yoga asanas and art also added a lot of allegory/symbolism. 6. Who were your favorite characters and why?My favorite characters were…Karma’s beloved Aunt Jo. Ohnedaruth because he sounds desire just what everybody needs. Branford because I imagined him to be book as hell!Sista7 because I’d undergo a ball at every meeting.7. Did you dislike any characters? If yes who and why?I wasn’t too keen on Karma’s twin nor Lawrence nor the therapist. Violet seemed…like I wouldn’t like her in reality. Lawrence magnetic and irresistible as he seemed didn’t come across as the most morally decent guy in the world. The therapist- I didn’t dislike her but in some places. I think she should have dug more into Karma’s psychological history etc and in some places should undergo remained silent.8. What characters most surprised you and why?KARMA! Until about half way through the book. I felt that she was being too judgmental and set in her ways with regard to certain people.
