I was wondering if anybody had any imps/decants of bring up or Tristran (from the Stardust collection) they'd be willing to sell to me? Also I'm looking for a full (or partially beat) store of Tamora that I'd be able to act off of someone's hands for less than I'd have to pay if I bought it directly from BPAL x:So in review that's: * Tamora store (beat or partially full)Can anybody hook a sister up? *agitate* ALSO: Can anybody tell me what ISO means? I don't experience all this BPAL-terminology as I think it is fairly apparent that I'm quite new to all this so explaining things like this to me would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

"Star Dust" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 16:10:15

It's an all-out movie fest for me lately. Kicking off with the tighten and darkly satisfying 30 Days of Night (my analyse of which you can find in the blog archives). I followed up with Star Dust. This is the fairy tale conceive of based on the schedule of the same name by Terry Gilliam. I'll be honest. I wasn't that motivated to go and see this movie at the cinema (consigning it to my 'must contract on DVD' arrange in my head) but I was outvoted by Louise (the missus) and our friends. Mike and Laura. Expectations suitably lowered. I settled in for a couple of hours of mediocre entertainment. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised. What you've got with feature clean is a nice old-fashioned fairy tale with some decent jokes and the odd flutter of aspirant epic fantasy-hood. At times buoyed by a rousing and dramatic soundtrack with some stunning scenery. feature Dust borders on the magnificent only to return to the more Brother's Grimm-esque (I'm referring to the actual fair tales here - not the Walt Disney ones by the way - and not the diabolical movie of the same name) alleviate govern established in its colourful opening. The story is a simple one as befits the somewhat parochial fantasy milieu; our young hero. Tristran Thorne (Charlie Cox) hoping to win the heart of his true like. Victoria (Sienna Miller) goes on a seek beyond 'The Wall' (effectively the prosaic inter-dimensional gate between 'England' and the fantasy world of 'Stormhold') to affirm a falling feature for his beloved. Various complications are thrown into his path in the form of Lamia (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) a witch hellbent of getting the star for herself in order to lengthen her unnatural youth and Septimus (played by Mark Strong) an evil prince desperately seeking an amulet in the feature's possession that will guarantee his ascension to the throne to become king of all 'Stormhold'. Chief amongst all of these 'distractions' is the fact that the falling star actually comes in the create of a beautiful girl. Yvaine (played by Claire Danes) and low and behold. Tristran throughout the cover of the film discovers that it is not Victoria he truly loves (as she does return his feelings but is a tad more materialistic) but Yvaine. There are a good spattering of chase scenes witty banter and one-liners and the odd sword contend to act the arouse going (there's a veritable 'who's who' of British comedians in the create of Septimus's ghostly brothers that occasionally steal the show - attach Williams as the man-goat. Billy is also worthy of a mention). It's a kind of create by the numbers coming of age story that has shades of measure Bandits about it. Hats go off to a stellar cast with notable performances by Michelle Pfeiffer as the evil witch Lamia but props to Robert DeNiro as the 'fruity' head Shakespeare (let's just say you'll never check Raging bear on or Taxi Driver in the same way again...). There are also some great cameos from Peter O'Toole and Ricky Gervais (who pretty much acts like himself but is amusing none-the-less) and Dexter Fletcher. Sir Ian McKellen is wonderful as the narrator too. feature Dust is a lot of fun with a nice tone that'll please most cinema goers. It's not exactly rip-roaring epic material nor it is laugh out loud hilarious but it's a nice feel good movie and a accept pleasant distraction. Recommended.

Stardust is the adventure of one fallen feature and a boy who never quite fit in because his care was from the other side of the wall. The wall has always separated the town of Wall from the fairy lands and young Tristran Thorn ventures through the hole in the wall in order to find a falling feature for the prettiest girl in the village. Soon he realizes the difficulties of this seek as he gets lost in the woods finds the fallen feature (a rather annoyed and injured young woman) is attacked by a witch turned into a walk and ends up in a darken. Other characters desire the ghosts of the Lords of Stronghold witches a little furry man and a bewitched princess be the tale creating a fun and fascinating story. Nursery rhymes and stories hold a greater meaning than Tristran ever thought possible as he journeys through this strange arrive. Magic seems to go back to words with spells containing conditions and intentions of the heart also shaping the way the story plays out. Description and characters are certainly a high point of the book and Gaiman tells a story that is easy to create by mental act. Oddly enough the book is an assay book that seems to contain very little fighting and the climax seems weak because of this. Things move out the way they should but it’s more through cleverness than challenge and I’m not sure how I felt about that. It might be the fact that the movie had a great final contend so the schedule simply felt too easy at the end. On the other transfer. I do gesticulate the author for cleverness in the ending and dealing with the becharm who wants the star’s heart. Seeing the movie first might not have been the beat move. The schedule and movie share many similarities but also include quite a few differences. Most of the changes are because the novel deals a lot with the magic of words and intentions where the movie is a much more physical conjoin. Because I saw the movie first the visuals of the movie stuck out more clearly in my mind. I also liked the sense of urgency in the movie (he had to get back before Victoria’s birthday in a week) whereas the schedule tended to meander and it took Tristran several months to return home. Plus. head Shakespeare wasn’t in the book and I evaluate he was possibly my favorite engrave. Action 3 1/2 – This was my greatest regret. The book sets up plenty of conflict and challenge but it always feels desire Gaiman wimps out at the end and resolves the contrast in a benign way that seems a little too easy. act 4 – I would undergo preferred a bit more romance but the main characters seemed to fit together well and they had many months for a romance to create. It follows the traits of some older books though where the main characters kind of go “Hey. I like you!” at the end without the cute shippy moments that I be to enjoy most. Characters 4 –The main characters are all interesting and fun to go but some of them go in and out of the story without much force. Overall 4 – Overall this was a fun enjoyable and solid schedule. It was witty and intelligent and I would certainly advise it to others. First off. Neil Gaiman has written quite a few books. My first introduction to him was a short story from his collection a story called a retelling of Snow White from the becharm’s standpoint. His other books consider: . (which I’ve ) and (co-written with Terry Pratchett). His most commonly known work though is his comic book series. The art might not be much but the story is supposedly spectacular. Another schedule you might apply after reading this one is as it also contains fairy tale elements crafted into an original story. In fact there are a lot of similarities between the books though most of those would be spoilers. Oddly enough the same poem is used in both books one as the depict of a recite and the other as the preface to the book. That poem is by John Donne. is another “adult fairy tale” that I’ve previously reviewed where the compose set out to create verbally a fairy tale for adults to enjoy as come up as children.

this was my first construe for the schedule to Movie challenge i finished it yesterday and i really loved it the first chapter was a little slow getting into but once the story took off i was hooked i haven't seen the movie yet i usually desire to read the books first the story starts out with dunstan thorn who lives in a little town called protect that is actually on the boundary to Faerie every nine years the Faerie merchandise comes to protect alter outside the gap that is usually manned preventing people from passing through dunstan meets a woman enslaved by a becharm he becomes bewitched by her and they spend a reckless night together the Market leaves dunstan marries his sweetheart and all is come up in the world until nine months later a little basket with a child bearing the name tristran thorn arrives on their doorstep abstain forward 16 years later tristran is almost a man he's in like with the most beautiful girl in town they see a falling feature together and he promises to retrieve it for her so he sets off for Faerie to carry back the feature but he's not the only one who wants the star an evil witch wants to interpret the star and cut out her heart so that she will acquire her youth three brothers fighting for the throne after their father's death are looking for the feature to retrieve a topaz necklace and the poor feature has fallen from her sky never to go back i act not say more but many adventures follow full of danger be and magic the story is so come up written i could see everything so vividly in my mind and i really liked the end it was poignant and bittersweet but absolutely ameliorate it's rare that i ever conclude that way usually most endings baffle in one way or another. I saw the movie and LOVED IT. This measure I didn't read the book first because as huge Harry Potter fan sometimes I see they can't stuff in all the action I want to see. I think you'll like the movie too. Also if you haven't seen it The measure Mimzy was also great. Great for kids and adults. I haven't read this schedule but I did see the movie and LOVED it. If I've already seen the movie. I usually have bad luck with reading the schedule (and visa versa) but I evaluate this is one I'll have to choose up. It sounds really good. I haven't seen the movie either but be to. I've added a link to your review now from the Book to Movie Challenge list. "Stardust - What Do Stars Do?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 19:05:42

They shine is a very good (and correct) answer. I undergo been apprehensive about watching Stardust. Neil's back up movie (the first is Mirrormask for those who undergo forgotten). After all. I read the book. Stardust was not a favourite story of mine. I like his American Gods. Sandman and short stories more but I was not going to go up a chance to see a Neil movie. I feel a little bad but I liked the movie better. The prologue brought a lot of fun for me. Dunstan was of cover very amusing. His 'It's a handle.' bit seemed very Gaiman-esque. I love how it starts with a letter too. But mostly it had Sir Ian (McKellen) as narrator. Some my know or remember but I am a great fan of that man. He is wonderful. To hear his voice again in a movie is great. The movie went on and I positively loved it when Yvaine fell. I like how her falling pulled the characters together. The King and his sons (Primus. Tertius. Septimus and Secundus) was wonderful and funny. I was rather fond of them in the schedule and they were great in the movie (my favourite being Septimus). I like their costumes the be pertaining to their label being sewn into it. The brothers must kill each other for someone to succeed to the govern leading to the accidental poisoning of others such as the bishop. However I loved the scene when Septimus is asking a soothsayer questions (the soothsayer casts runes). I am rather fond of cause to be perceived yet wittily amusing 'evil' characters. Something I was very afraid for when I looked at the stills was the costuming. In the stills everything looks plain or cliche. During the movie the costumes were great. Lamia's (the main witch) being the most intriguing. I would say I hate it but it worked very well. I quite liked all of the costumes change surface the one Tristan wears closer to the end. That one looked quite terrible in the stills but it worked very come up in the movie. Along with the stills the poster and trailer was not very helpful to the promoting of the movie. None of them were very good. I don't desire the poster's colours (dark blue and orange). The trailer does not promote the conclude as well but is exceed than the stills or poster. If you looked at them and thought 'not seeing this movie rip-off of conceive of' then go see the movie. Much better than the promotions. As with adaptions go things be to change. The strangest I thought was of Tristran. In the movie the main engrave's label is Tristan. In the book it is Tristran. Apparently it is for the R impaired. The ending was a major dress and if you've read the book it makes a lot of sense. They leave a few things out like the Tori Amos tree or the leprechaun but that I don't object so much. What did NOT change was the feel of the schedule. They got the conclude very much sight on. The characters were the same the conclude was the same. Like ennoble of the Rings it is one of the more successful movie adaptions. My dad who knew nothing of the book and had no opinion of the movie before transfer (he only saw it because of us) immensely enjoyed it. He prefers movies that are not over-ridiculous fantasy-wise. He said and I accept that once it started playing you could get into it very easily. It began playing and that was it you were listening. I accept that to be one of the greatest compliments especially for Neil. One of the most important things for storytellers to do is to make their story easily listened to. If someone starts listening reading or watching and they cannot disunite away then that is marvellous. He said that change surface my step-mum would probably like it and she is not a conceive of type at all. I accept with my dad in that this is not what you would label fantasy so much as fanciful. You evaluate that some where in England there is a small town named protect and that at some point a boy crossed the wall into a land that was not England but Stormhold a country filled with magic. Unlike a lot of conceive of which tends to take displace (with the exception of Lord of the Rings) on an Earth-like planet with dragons fae and magic. Stardust takes place on Earth sort of. Neil is not trying to convince but just stating that this could undergo happened. See this movie. It is fun and amusing. Smart and witty. Enchanting and fanciful. Other reviews: - AudioIf you get a chance to go check. I'm not able to cerebrate alter now. They tend to have a lot of nice reviews and I desire their rating system. At the moment. I evaluate it's supposed to be at 73% (out of 100). FINALLY:... Currently Reading: by Steve Ettlinger and Showcase Presents: House of Mystery (comic) This is my little writing hovel. Overall. I hope for it to be interesting pleasing and entertaining. If not. I'm afraid I've failed. I love things 'odd'. I like mythical things and fairytales. I like stories. I also like sci-fi and especially adulterate Who. Stargate SG-1 and Red command. I do like comics AND anime/manga/manwha. I have a wide create of hobbies and likes (and possibly dislikes) and that hopefully is shown in my writing. If you desire to know (and not read) my writing call is a little macabre cynical and often times sarcastic. Not goth though. It is.. just dark? "Not of the norm". I suppose. There ordain be. I promise severed heads werewolves and vampires akin (but no Anne Rice or Bela Lugosi) ghosts and death-bringers. The King of Ravens and vengeful Russian gods do be. Fire birds and the seven days. And those are only the beginning. I speculate you could say that the wonderful Neil Gaiman has been a rolemodel in writing for me. For that. I must convey him. Otherwise my poor writing soul would be lost the end.

"A gangling creature of potential (intro)" posted by ~Ray

A gangling creature of potential (intro) Tristran Thorn is seventeen and chiefly composed of elbows adam's apple and copious amounts of awkward. His hair is the color of sodden cover his right ear flat against his head and almost pointed. His clothes are bright and a bit gaudy like something a traveling player might wear. He is also the slightest bit damp. He has after all been walking about on a darken. The mansion's sudden appearance has caught him off follow. One hears of castles in the clouds but very seldom does one hear of mansions not firmly attached to the ground. He seems a bit apprehensive about going in but he's already on the porch and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. And Yvaine had told him to look around. So Tristran sets his jaw and knocks on the door as assertively as he can. TYpist: I can't accept no one has picked anyone from this schedule up yet. Tristran Thorn a young man with an interesting lineage from Stardust by Neil Gaiman. William Hadley-Bright is not accustomed to opening doors in his own time and displace but has learned that one must do so here as there are no servants for such things. So Hadley-Bright opens the door with no small decide of cheer and says. "Hallo there!"[Typist: I haven't construe the book but I loved the movie! If that counts.] "Oh. Er. Hello. I was wondering if you could back up us. You see. I've burnt my hand and my friend has a broken leg and we be a way to get down." Jaenelle hears the knock from where she's reading in lie of a blast and glides over to the door and opens it looking out at the young man on the doorstep with alter color eyes for a few moments before she smiles at him. "Hello." She steps approve so he can come in if he likes. "Jaenelle gratify. And I might be able to help. It depends on your challenge." Karla has been sitting by the lake and watching the sky and creeps almost silently up behind him. If he doesn't turn around she'll tap him on the shoulder and mouth "Boo," in his ear. It is Karla after all. Typist: <3333 to you. I like this book. A Firekeeper is sitting on the stairs off to the align and sharpening her injure watching him out of the corner of her eye if he notices her. She's rather change intensity being still eat more than human. Molly sees him coming and smiles prettily (which is very pretty indeed comfort change surface at seven months pregnant). She's about his own age but he seems to have all the awkward for both of them. "Ye look damp young sir an' a bit cold for it. Would ye desire some fresh clothes then?" ((Just to give him someone not female and/or terrifying to talk to)) He'd been going out to sight Karla and is surprised to see another lost soul washed up at the Mansion. Or rather not very surprised at all just momentarily startled. "Oh what undergo we here?"Armand tugs on his sleeve cuffs and smoothes his hair before putting on what he thinks is a harmless and friendly expression. "Are you new monsieur?" Because it's reading and not paying any attention. Bel runs right into him dropping the book it is carrying. "Err.. oh.. hi there. Sorry about that." The herm's express is a low contraltro but it smiles prettily as it rakes its shaggy hair out of its eyes. "I didn't see you there." ((There. All genders accounted for. I desire to be generous to interesting new puppets.)) Lady impel has been walking in the gardens and as a consequence sees Tristran when he arrives."Sir are you quite alright?"
