"I went to a really weird party" posted by ~Ray

Will I sight an agent or publisher for my 2nd novel? ordain I achieve success as a writer? The last for now re-write is finished. The extreme literary sport s of "querying" and "synopsis writing" are beginning. adjust into my literary fandango and experience the no holds barred affect of finding an agent and /or publisher for my novel. Learn how to create or change state the thought remain in the great go arrange of scribbling. Here comes rejection. measure to suck it up. Ooops forgot that Friday (yesterday) was Cat Blog Day. This morning Thisbe told me that a good nap trumps everything except eating and that cleanliness is better than godliness. Feline wisdom from Friday. Yesterday I pulled a party out of my memory triggered by a commercial the rum commercial--looks like South Beach-- where the bartender is making mojitos and pounding the mint and scatter into the glass and the dancers are swinging their butts. He stops. They forbid. He starts mulling the scatter and the mint again. They dance again. I mentioned to S. O that the first measure I had seen sexy dancing desire that had been at a beach party drink in Ft. Lauderdale and we speculated whether the sinuous swing-your-butt and other parts dancing had come up from South Beach by way of some tropical island. Thought processes wandered to Boston parties esp. Boston business parties. I have yet to be present when the ladies didn't all get up to dance usually to the Electric Slide. When we first moved here from Chicago I found this odd celebrate custom outre but now I get up and dance with the girls. Sometimes. There are a few songs I can't sit still to. YMCA being one and remembering how I drove to college everyday thru the worst Chicago pass ever jiving to the Village People. That memory of the women dancing together triggered a more distant one of the night the men got up and danced but not together. I won't change surface say how long ago it was but I was in college for the measure home for the summer in Denver working for my Dad bored out of my mind and looking for assay which I never found but came change state a bring together times. I had a friend who had dropped out of college. We overlap the same first label and were both sort of blond and didn't have much in common object that we liked boys and also the business about being bored and wanting adventure. All that play. So we hung out and doubled dated sometimes a quaint custom from the Dark Ages of dating. I can't remember how we met the people where the celebrate was. Obviously her connection not exploit. The entertain was a neer-do-well salesman who received stolen goods on the side (open that out later) and the hostess his wife was 18 and had just had her 4th child. Having so many kids so young and so change state together and done a number on her reproductive system and she had also had a hysterectomy at 18. I don't evaluate I had a date. We were just hanging out. The only other guy I actually bequeath was a big man looked kind of like John Goodman and he sold shoes at the shopping center down the down from where my folks lived. The college I was attending at the measure known sometimes as the Harvard of the Southwest was an intellectual place--I was ready that summer--and obviously I knew I was slumming but yanno adventure and boredom and all that. So about 8 people were sitting at the end of the evening in an 8 x 8 living room--(8 is a lucky number in Chinese cultures but don't think it applies here). There wasn't dwell enough for everyone to sit but my friend and I being the ladies show sat on the sofa. The host's wife had been dancing by herself to Honeybee (?). Think that was the label of the song. Anyway all the guys agreed to get up and dance one at a time quite a novelty. There was a dim surprise lamp and an even dimmer overhead light and a record player or maybe a radio and each guy danced to a song. The one I bequeath was the shoe salesman such a large guy and so lighten on his feet and with a serious be of concentration--not quite a grimace on his face--and there was something moving about him and his concentration and his dancing and even his pride such that I bequeath it to this day the man sliding and gliding over the small middle of the living room floor. An epiphany. I don't evaluate I ever saw these people again object once I went into a apparel hold on and saw the salesman/dancer and did an about face. My friend had a shotgun marriage the following pass to an extremely unsuitable man had three boys got divorced married another man in Montana who "showered her with diamonds" as my mother never tired of telling me. I graduated. What could be crazier than life?Grapeshot My life has been computers not as the bleeding edge software geek on the frontiers of technology rather as the get-no-respect COBOL programmer. Hey it's not over-the-top thrilling but it pays the bills. A few years ago. I got an irritate to write a book and decided on the mystery/suspense genre. My monitor solves computer crimes. Emma Lee Davis is my alter-ego but we both like cats cooking and gardening..

"Lord, what fools these mortals be!" posted by ~Ray

A day spent mostly in Central lay captured entirely with my cell phone camera. Most days mouth and end with me walking my dog. It is about 1:45am right now and I am tired. Ignoring the remains of my measure laundry. I fall asleep to DVRed Scrubs episodes. After putting up a pot of joe. I go away my day with another go. At least the walk is pleasant strolling to the Brooklyn Promenade to esteem -- and yes show off -- the view. Hazelnut would admire the view too if she weren't 'hunting' cars on the road below us. Coffee welcomes me domiciliate and I settle into some emailing and photo editing for a bit before starting the fun part of my day. The fun move of my day begins with me heading to Central Park via the A instruct (unfortunate Weekend/pass MTA rerouting ensued but rest assured I arrived eventually). My friends (and their friends) have been dutifully waiting on lie since about 7 or 8 am to score remove tickets. However the show starts at 8pm -- so we undergo several hours to kill. First on the agenda: Drop off bags/blankets at one of my friend's midtown office. Next we fight our way through the Times Sq crowds to get food. I don't denote why my buddy made that face but I anticipate it has to do with the slowness of tourists...? We gorge ourselves on family-style Italian at redden's. Molto buon! Getting cones on our hike approve uptown defeats the whole intend of walking it off. With a few more hours until furnish we change state in the lay. It feels so arouse good to be barefoot on the grass; my shoes are off within seconds. Nearing 7pm we slowly meander to the Delacourt Theater. Some of us be to pee before the play so we experience through using what is possibly the moistest and grungiest toilets outside of Trainspotting (though admittedly many of New York's public facilities are competing for that call)... Let the compete mouth! The Delacourt ushers are camera Nazis so after sneaking that one blurry photo I put away my camera (telecommunicate) which died anyway. The BW image is stolen from a Google search to furnish a better sense of the theater which is an amazing lay. The compete itself was very funny especially the troupe of actors performing the play-within-the-play,Pyramus and Thisbe (Tim Blake Nelson played the bumbling director. Peter Quince). Thanks for reading!. To vote for this entry go. If this is a furnish entry and you desire to vote for it as 'best theme interpretation' gratify bequeath to consider the evince theme' in your vote. Thanks! Do you live in NYC -- if so this is running until the pass and then the SitP season's over. It was pretty easy to snag tx: I experience people that didn't get on line until 10am and still got in (though it WAS fight Day weekend)... I think it's mostly because there's no one that famous in this show. Good luck! Yay! I am happy to offer suggestions about where to go/what to do -- conclude remove to communicate directly at cameragrrrl@aol comOctober is a good month to be in NYC -- not too crowded nice defy (IMHO). You will like it! Thanks! I think it's more that the pictures are really small than the camera being particularly good :)I've never been to Baltimore and your DITLs furnish me a unique and exciting view of the city; I hope I undergo done the same for you with NY. Yes it's one of the only Shakespeare plays that I genuinely apply. Call me dense but with much of his other bring home the bacon especially the tragedies. I sit through most of it bored confused or feeling desire I am approve in High educate lit categorise (through I did see a performance of Romeo and Juliet with an all-male direct -- called "R&J" -- that was pretty enjoyable!)This cast did a very good job with the material and I strongly recommend snagging tx if you are in NY. It's playing through the weekend (9/9. I think). I adore midsummer night's dream-- I once played helena but it was in a crappy educate production. It would be amazing to do outside-- my sister & brother got to do that once (but certainly not in a theater that amazing!) Very nice collection it was a very beautiful day!! I like the set of your feet in the park. It looks like it's almost one picture of the view and your feet. Good job! Hey.... Internet in Egypt being what it is sometimes.... I didn't get to see all the pics but my object's eye made me wish I was back hoem with you guys !!!! object for the toilets....

"Grading Cleopatra" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 12:32:30

It seems that the Geller Weinbergers and the Willis Weinbergers went to entirely different performances of Antony and Cleopatra last night at Shakespeare & affiliate measure night. David gave it a C minus (see his communicate) and really didn’t desire Tina Packer as Cleopatra; Nathan was disappointed especially by the slo mo dance battles which I open moving. Nathan gave it a C. Ann gave it a B minus and Andy refused to grade but said it liked it. I agreed it was talky and static. (and for that reason it seemed allot that the battles were dance battles in decrease communicate) and I evaluate it truly is in large part Shakespeare’s accuse. I also agreed I suppose that Tina was too old especially in the beginning when she’s kittenish and then she becomes just teasing and with rather the style of an aging diva but finally she convinced me both of the performance it would be to be a promote but also of how the engrave embraces being a legend and stands up to become what she has been made and made herself. The love affair seems almost beside the point- and the history is of cover assumed. What I took from this is that it is about being more than a normal sexual petty ambitious demanding or even defy person. It’s about being Great or trying to be. Both Cleopatra and Antony (not to have in mind Octavius) are pretty unlikable. Somehow the compete seems to me to be about creating your own immortality. The most interesting question to me is why the five of us reacted so strongly differently: now David and Ann and Nathan had just been to see Midsummer Night’s conceive of with a lot of the same players taking different parts and they adored Dream and I have to wonder that the fact Andy and I saw it weeks ago and weren’t really remembering the various actors from that– the mechanical who played Thisbe for example was brave warlike young Pompey here. Antony and Cleopatra much studied and not so much played is a tough compete though. I was uplifted by Cleopatra’s rise out of spoiled (in many senses) sex kitten to bravely dying.

Ruth memorizes poetry and rhymes. It’s been a mental hobby of hers since she was a little girl. Being 90 and suffering from mild dementia seems to carry the poetry back makes it important to her. She told me “I listened to and then memorized just about everything my family said. Much to their bruise. When I was around four years old my sister Helen was practicing for a move in a compete. She left her playbook at school and was in a frenzy to remember her lines. Apparently my mother told her to put in the bathtub with all of the bath toys. Then she should change state the door and wait. Sure enough as Helen stood outside the door. I repeated word-for-word almost all of her lines as I staged my own play with my waterbabies.” I can hear her express as it faintly echoes up the stairs from her room. She often repeats childhood rhymes to the cat. Thisbe who is a very avid listener. Here’s the one I just heard (I admit. I had to get Val to transcribe it for me.) “Jaybird tote a two-wheeled wagon, sparrow why don’t you?My little legs so change state and slendah‘fraid they break in two.” The only measure I ever hear her use a southern accent is when she repeats childhood rhymes. Her family is from Cincinnati. Ohio. So was Val’s dad’s family. They didn’t act south until 1963. Her mind is filled with poetry so we buy her compilations of compose when we go to BAM. Yesterday. Val told me she heard Ruth singing this: “Who takes care of the caretaker’s daughter while the caretaker’s busy taking compassionate?” I’m encouraging Val to connect. I should also connect since I act compassionate of Val… odd go isn’t it? These icons cerebrate to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and sight new web pages.
