mine saves a notepad say with the password during set up also or just go away the whole set up again.
Geez if you know the router's IP address all you undergo to do is look it up rather than define the whole thing. If you have a linksys router the user name is blank and the fail password is 'admin'. If you can't evaluate that out you probably shouldn't have a wireless setup and should be going to Starbucks.

The issue is retrieving the WEP key not the routers login. certify unless someone has some really good hacking skills the key won't be recoverable either from the routers config or the PC's NIC config. If there is find to the routers config it can be define. Really the only way.
It is has been said before but i ordain add you should be able to go to a web interface of your router usually. 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. This will show you what the WEP keys are logins by defauly for linksys as said are admin with no password and NetgGear has password and username as both 'admin' . Now if these undergo been changed you will either undergo to define the router totoally or evaluate out who knows it.
outside chance this could be someone trying to 'borrow' wireless internet from someone and therfore has absolutely no find to the router config if that is the case then you are pretty much screwed.

Once you're in the router if you have a linksys go to 'Wireless' and under 'Wireless' 'Wireless Security'. Your WEP key ordain be there.
Those people who are telling to reset your router don't know what they're doing.
Is it WEP or WPA (WNA) ?If iyou have qwest as your router/modem the WPA security is the serial number on the router itself by default if you want to try to smell out the WEP key try and or
