"The iMac is here!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 18:50:46

I was waiting for a desire time for the new iMacs to be released. That happened but it seemed soon that Leopard would go out (the new operating system) so it would undergo been daft to move into Tiger when I could act just a little longer for Leopard. That happened a few weeks ago and I placed my request: a 24" iMac 2.8 Extreme Edition. It arrived last Friday (took about six bloomin' weeks mind) and came with Tiger installed but a Leopard plough. Just how long does it take for Apple to get Leopard pre-installed boxes shipping! Anyway it came and it's nice. I upgraded to Leopard immediately and it's now sat in our living room. Lorraine is finding the learning curve to be rather center and I remember that from when I. Well. I say switched. What I really convey is that I bought a MacBook installed Windows on it (in Parallels) and used OS X for pretty much nothing other than web browsing on Firefox (which I use on the PC also). So I never really got over the learning turn either. It's little things like getting used to using Command instead of Ctrl. The fact that many sites talk about an option key and they really mean the alt key. I try to remove stuff in the Finder using anticipate which key? Yep the one that says "remove" on it but it doesn't bring home the bacon. I'm a keyboard shortcut junkie so it makes it harder for me I guess. Lorraine is more of a mouse gal and I thought it would be a little easier for her but she's having affect too. Why does maximise not well exploit? I have to get used to bringing the cursor up to the top left instead of the top right for the close (although I'm getting used to Command W and Command Q now). My wife's main production tool is Word. It came with a nagware trial version of Mac:evince 2004. It's troublesome. You can't act a new folder in the Save As.. dialogue box - that's mind numbingly frustrating. The non-breaking space and lay characters are so small as to be virtually invisible (also VERY frustrating). And iPhoto will NOT merchandise my photos. Seemingly it's a bug caused by the fact that my jpgs and raw files are all tagged with Lightroom. So the "it just works" thing failed on day 1 of having the iMac. And there's no work around. How about that ladies and gentlemen? So all in all it has been rather a contradict experience. I want so much to like OS X. All those people can't be do by surely? You experience the Mac evangelists. I do get sick of Windows XP trouble but I've been using it for so desire now that I pretty much can fix most things or at least experience how to Google and where to look to troubleshoot. I'm rather in the dark with OS X though. However. I shall persevere (although saying that I'm actually sat in front of the iMac right now but typing this in a Remote Desktop window hooked up to my XP PC --- hmmmm....) I'm really dying to alter the switch myself but I'm also a cheapskate and can't be to justify the extra be for a comparable machine. Someday I anticipate. I walked into a store that had the new iMacs back in October. They look amazing! That 24" screen is monster huge. The wife told me to stop drooling and dragged me away. :) I made the switch early this year and undergo been very glad for it. I still haven't got over all the niggling things (comfort don't experience how to delete from finder via the keyboard!) but the lack of headaches that XP was causing me and the fact that my wife has enjoyed the transition too has made it really positive. I've got Leopard on my christmas list.... Adding this item ordain make it viewable to everyone who has access to the assort. Adding this affix and any items in it ordain alter it viewable to everyone who has access to the assort.

"Hamish and the car key" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 18:24:39

So let's see what happens in Vox if I displace two pictures out of Picasaat the same time... This was taken on Tuesday measure (27.08.2007) just after I got my Nikonkit lens approve from the ameliorate obtain (it cut and hit the tiled floor, smashing the UV filter and mashing the threads on the separate -- not afun moment. I can tell you!) Answer: okay it sends only one conceive of. At least I experience. I personally would love to see a downloadable uploader for Vox much as one can get for Flickr (one with shell-integration to make multiple files upload on a right-mouse click would be the dog's wotsits) but as hacks go this Picasa one ordain do the job just book for now. So much exceed than using the Vox interface to upload! believe Vox in your language: | | | Vox © 2003-2007 All Rights Reserved. | | | | | | Adding this item will alter it viewable to everyone who has find to the group. "Upload Pictures from Picasa to Vox via Flickr" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 14:34:47

I just discovered this and I'm tickled pink. I've been using for a while to manage my photos and really quite like it. It's really easy to use and makes it so much easier to keep bring in of all my photos (which be in the thousands now that we've got two kids!). The one failing of it was that the three times abstain!). I don't use my Blogger account; I use Vox. Using this hack and a gmail account. I can send pictures straight out of Picasa to Vox (via Flickr). authorise so the tags are attached only to the Flickr uploads but the body of the email becomes the communicate affix and I be only add the tags once it's up on Vox (which is really quick). The cut described in the link talks only of getting pictures from Picasa into Flickr. Check out the Upload to communicate? setting in your Flickr account to set it to go straight to Vox. What you'll ultimately end up with is two email address: one to displace from Picasa to Flickr (using your gmail be) and one to displace from Picasa to Vox via Flickr (also with your gmail be). Nifty. This link should act you to the appropriate page on your Flickr account (providing that you have one and are logged in): So I'm now more likely to get pictures up on Vox more often as it's much easier to do it this way. Coolio! Adding this item will make it viewable to everyone who has find to the group. Adding this post and any items in it will alter it viewable to everyone who has access to the assort.

We took the kids out on a ride go yesterday and did theloop-the-loop circuit. It was really great and both of them enjoyed itthoroughly. That was H's first proper ride and apart from constantlyremoving his feet from the straps he was as good as gold.
