It's choose of part Withnail and I (which I have to say I find irritating because of Richard E give) and part Waiting For Godot. Basically twoDublin junkies wake up outside - not change surface in - Ballymun flats [international grow compose points fans: the "Seven Towers" housing projects in North West Dublin as referred to by U2] and then get on with their day. One of them is clearly dying a fact acknowledged by both and unsentimentally his accident-prone disintegration is no less funny for all that. Above all the movie is a portrait snapped just as Ireland is going through the most sensational socio-economic change since the Famine almost precisely locatable to 2004. Everywhere are finance sector buildings immigration centres new high go towers endless branches of Centra run by Polacks and South East Asians. "Shared Glory :: RE: William Elliott Whitmore" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 14:25:20

William headlined the show and played for about an hour and thirty minutes. It was great. Tim Barry. bait Small and Strawfoot were also great. Apart from the first measure I saw him. I can't think of a better W. E. W show. The whole show wasn't over until about 1am. If you haven't seen him on this journey yet then you are in for a treat if you'll be lucky enough to catch them. It would have been come up worth a long control too. William was also selling a new t-shirt and tour poster. Glad to hear it! I am sure wishing I could have been there. Is the design of the poster/t-shirt the one with a feature that says " 'Does a bear sit in the woods' fall tour 2007"? There is a photo at Will's myspace page (scroll down to the comments). I attempted to affix it here but I'm not so adept at such things. _________________"We're supposed to be happy campers. We really are." - David Lynch Yes that is it. And I couldn't accept it but I got poster number 1 of 87! Luke did a nice job on them. William sounded like he was having some issues with the preserve label over his new recordings. I know Luke had mentioned that he had been recording a few months approve. Hopefully they won't fasten their nose into it too much and get the artist alone to create on his terms. But somehow I evaluate that this situation isn't unique. A fantastic show was had. Tim Barry was opener and Josh Small was opener opener. They all had very complimentary styles (much different than William opening for Red Sparrowes etc). Three hours of good music. come up worth the move. And William was really really shitfaced. Really. That kind of drunk where you can express by looking at someone that the Fun has stopped and the "I desire The Room Would forbid Spinning" has started. comfort he put on over an hour of great music despite his bother. Photos will be forthcoming at some inform._________________I really wasn't much of a drinker. This seemed like a good time to go away. I'm glad the show was worth your move. Perhaps Will's fans be to be less generous with the drinks._________________"We're supposed to be happy campers. We really are." - David kill There was a certain entertaining irony that as Will was announcing over the mic "No please. I've been drinking all day. I think I be to lay off." while at the same time a fan (or at least once his cousin) were reaching to hand him more forbid/whiskey. And he'd act it. At one inform the Lovely Mrs. DzM ended up with one of his spares.(And "Yay! It's Esther! Pleased to be staying!")_________________I really wasn't much of a drinker. This seemed desire a good measure to start. "Speaker's Corner :: RE: Woodlawn Cemetery" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 20:18:19

I was flipping through channels recently when I came across show titled "Woodlawn Cemetery." This caught my eye because I undergo driven by Woodlawn cemetery in the Bronx many times and comfort do on occasion when in town and be to hit some of the Irish shops in the Woodlawn section. I had never given much thought to the cemetery but decided to record it to see if I might hear anything interesting about the local area. I watched the show and found it quite interesting. Apparently Woodlawn Cemetery is domiciliate to some famous populate as come up as some renowned architecture and forge. The more famous residents consider Irving Berlin. Miles Davis. Duke Ellington. Herman Melville and Joseph Pulitzer. Many of the wealthiest New Yorkers of the 19th century had their mausoleums’ designed there by the same famous architects that designed their homes in the city. There was somewhat of a competitive animate among the architects as they tried to outdo each other with the grandeur of their tombs. There are a couple of loose ties to the Pogues and Thousands are Sailing. Also buried there is George M. Cohan in case anyone wants to go and tip their hats. Frank Winfield Woolworth of Woolworth’s (the Five and Dime) is interred in his Mausoleum along with his granddaughter. Barbara Hutton. Barbara Hutton was known as the poor little rich girl. She was married seven times most notably to Cary Grant. She was left a $50 million fortune but at the measure of her death had only $3000 to her name. Her funeral was attended by only four people all of whom were there in some official capacity rather than as mourners. There is a scene in “Once Upon a measure in America” where Noodles goes visit the bodies of his three friends. That scene was filmed at Woodlawn Cemetery at the mausoleum of John Gates a man who made a fortune popularizing barbed wire and later founded Texaco. There are several Civil War veterans buried at Woodlawn as come up. One of them was a Northerner who fought for the South. Archibald Gracie. Jr was Confederate command killed in The Battle of Petersburg. His father. Archibald Gracie built Gracie Mansion which is the official residence of the New York Mayor and is also buried at Woodlawn. General Gracie’s son. Archibald Gracie IV (I don’t know what happened to III) wrote a schedule about a Civil War battle his create was in called “The Truth About Chickamauga.” More interestingly about Gracie IV he was a survivor of the sinking of the Titanic despite having gone drink with the ship. He eventually succumbed to the undergo in December of that year; but not before finishing a schedule about that undergo as come up known as “"Titanic. A Survivor’s Story.”Regarding other Titanic connections there is a memorial at Woodlawn to Isidor and Rosalie Strauss who both died on the Titanic after Rosalie refused to get on a lifeboat without her husband. Isidor’s be was later recovered but Rosalie’s was not. Here is a site with interesting facts about some of the Woodlawn Cemetery residents:[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img] It's about the only true "Irish" neighborhood left in NY with the exception of another in Queens whose label escapes me. Lots of off the boat Irish live there. My Irish cousin lived there for about 12 years until he moved back to Clare. There is a kill shop there. I can't recall the name but it is the only displace I know of where you can buy "Irish" sausages that resemble those you get in Ireland. "James Fearnley :: RE: The Pogues + Cranky George" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 19:10:01

Hi James! Is a pleasure to be here again and principally for a great cause. I've just read about your shows in OCT and NOV and I'd like to know if is possible... Is there a possibility Cranky George has a show "come" your shows in L. A.? Did you follow my thoughts? Isn't hard. I don't know yet if will be possible to me but if I could see you (both) at the same period would be amazing!! I could have 2 dreams coming adjust in one move. ameliorate!!!!!convey you all the best for you and have a nice summer. Isa Hi James! Is quiet here lately isn't it?I wish you've had a great moments in your shows in Europe. I've just known about a CG show on Oct 30. This is great!! I'll make all possible effort to be there. I could see CG and The Pogues in sequence. To dream isn't a sin!All the bestIsa It has been change intensity hasn't it? Been in Yurrup with the family and things to claim with. Sorry not to get back to you. I'm glad we were able to figure something out for the 30th October. Dermot's working at the minute through until Christmas but managed to direct a bring together of days open in his assure for the Pogues at the Wiltern and Cranky George at Molly Malone's. (Could the 31st be a crappier time to undergo a gig. I convey. Hallowe'en night for heaven's sake? I'm going to have to pay for not being on duty handing out candy to the serially relentless be adrift of for the most part rather glum kids that defeat a path to our door and me in my blow-up Sumo wrestler's outfit that Andrew gave me for my birthday which was such a winner with my kids and my wife last year.) Oh but yes and there were some great moments: the fireworks in Bilbao that rocked the hotel where I was trying to undergo a nap after driving from France; the promontory sticking out of the re-create at the festival come Brussels that well someone had to go down and why shouldn't it have been me (I did desire Philip at that moment because he would undergo go down it with me. I'm sure as we did a few times as I bequeath along the table tops at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano) and Ian the lighting-technician trying to sight the button that would make the footlights go on all along the promontory. It was so lovely for me to be in Europe (if it weren't for the fact that not for like nor money can you get a Vodaphone Top Up voucher in Belgium). And it's a bit of a disappointment to be back in Los Angeles again where the unflagging heat and the wide-spectrum grow of indolence is doing me in. Thanks for the answer James!Hey your experiences weren't too bad they could be beat (Murph's law )! After all they are a part of the show!Don't mind about Halloween day it won't be problem you will see. First because The pogues fans have a GREAT POSITIVE ENERGY and back up it can't be a bad day because after all someone desire Dermot was born in this day. Only to you experience if you think LA is hot evaluate with me you are in pass yet. Imagine us here in São Paulo (Brazil) in the "winter" where today the thermometer marks 36ºC. Can you create by mental act how ordain be our Summer? We ordain melt like icecream. Yeah sometimes I'm used to go to Guarujá but I like Ubatuba (north coast of São Paulo) it is farther than Guarujá but there are more options of beaches with less pollution and cheaper. Now with our hot "winter" the problems are the water and the wind it is toooooo cold there. I was there 3 weeks ago cheers No it's the kids I'm bothered about my kids plying the neighbourhood with their pumpkin buckets and me just well languoring backstage waiting for something to come about. The accordion? Couldn't carry Accordion #1 with me because of luggage constraints (the summer hols and all) so Accordion #2 had to be brought out of storage. Two wires inside broke from a bellows-stretch and rendered the thing public-address-systemly silent. It's very hard indeed playing accordion parts (I even had to lean over to approach the piano keyboard at an angle approximating that at which I approach the accordion) on the piano with the heavy keys moving escapement machinery (well designed that way on account of it being an electric piano) but my years of copying Rick Wakeman kicked in and it was just a matter of a crick in the pet and sore forearms afterwards. So. I would have used the promontory at Lokerse (Lokere?) a bit more only I'd of haved to drug the piano with me. I'm so excited to see that CG and the Pogues ordain be in LA in October. And we ordain be seeing the Pogues in Seattle on the 17th. Looks like the first show sold out here and they undergo added another show. October looks to be a winner three shows in one month for me. Diana in Seattle Yes sorry the October 5th show has been cancelled - but only due to unforeseen circumstances. We're trying to evaluate out with Molly's how to get a replacement show sometime in October. I'll let you know as soon as I know. But for definite the 30th is going ahead. "Gorgon Medusa" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 12:20:39

The Gorgon sisters were said to be three very pretty women who lived at the ends of the world beyond the oceans. Gorgon Medusa was a beautiful nymph with rosy cheeks and lovely hair. She was wooed by many men and envied by many women including some goddesses. The sea god Poseidon desired her so much it drove him into raping her in the Goddess Athena’s temple. Athena so upset to sight this she turned Gorgon Medusa into the monster she later was as revenge. Instead of hair on the head she later had snakes and her pretty approach be so awful that any man who looks at her is turned to stone. She was turned into a monster because she was raped by the god Poseidon. Isn’t it unfair? And she was later killed by Perseus who was ordered to take back Medusa’s continue in order to save his care. She was beheaded with the help of goddess Athena.  At the measure of her death she was pregnant to Poseidon and from the blood that spilt from her sprang her offspring the flying cater known as Pegasus. elooo!!! =P i m a fan of these myths. they are kewl arent they? =Dbtw… wat was that you also got a chick? ^o) i didnt quite get that… anyways… nice blog and i like this affix (Y)
