"a potato bun." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 15:46:22

While passing by the tea-board bhOndOO saw a fat guy with a big mouth eating two potato buns together like a devise bhOndOO was amazed to see that mainly because there was still enough gap for a third bun. bhOndOO was hungry and the sight of the bun-train entering the tunnel made him feel the ache more. There was almost an hour and a half for snacks to get served in the mess. For a moment he tried to alter his direction of thinking by looking at trees. But the mocking laugh of a monkey sitting on the tree and enjoying a bun-piece did not accept bhOndOO to get distracted. He looked at the fat guy again and saw the immense satisfaction on his face holding the remaining conjoin of the sandwich bhOndOO thought: Another rupee came out bhOndOO remembered that he used five rupees from emergency money to get his bicycle-tyre-puncture cured while returning from a bicycle journey. The rupee from the emergency money increased his advise to eat a potato bun. He looked around but did not see anyone familiar. He heard a large breathe from the fat guy. bhOndOO marched straight to the department and entered the computing lab. He went directly to BenJi. Before bhOndOO could speak. BenJi declared. “Lets go.”. “Where?”. BenJi looked at bhOndOO in such a manner as if bhOndOO was asking the stupidest challenge of the twenty-first century. “Algo instruct!”. He came out of the lab and started walking towards stairs to go to Litec Lab. On the way he met Prof Krishnamurthy. Ignoring bhOndOO’s greeting he said. “bhOndOO can we cater now in my office for five minutes?”. “Sir actually I undergo a class right now.”. “Oh! authorise. Can you meet me after the instruct?”. “Yes. Sir.”. bhOndOO reduced his go to let his advisor go ahead and then changed his direction to enter Litec Lab. He looked around and saw Gullu. Asking Gullu for one-rupee did not sound desire a great idea but the remembrance of the bun-train entering the tunnel made bhOndOO come Gullu. Gullu looked at bhOndOO from top to bottom as if bhOndOO was begging. He took out a create verbally from his pocket and dropped it in bhOndOO’s hands. “I will return it to you in the evening.”. Glad bhOndOO ran towards the tea-board. Algo instruct had already begun and the queue at tea-board contained five customers bhOndOO went restless. He saw two of the ladies in front carrying hundred-rupee notes and realized that they would be taking time. He heard the boy at the head of the queue asking for “potato bun.” followed by the shopkeeper shouting at his boys. “one potato bun!” followed by the mouth of one of his boys serving a plate containing a potato bun to the boy customer. “Potato buns are getting over only one is remaining now.”. There are comfort four persons in lie of me. What is the probability that at least one of them would ask for a potato bun? He heard a mouth of uneasiness among the other people in the stand ignored took the last bun and went to the table where formerly the giant was enjoying the devise of potato buns. A smile appeared on bhOndOO’s face. By showing a bit of illegitimate behavior he had managed to get what he wanted. Moreover he had used probability theory to solve a real world problem. Till now he used to think that probabilistic methods are useless when it is a do-or-die situation. At the current moment bhOndOO was the happiest person in the world. He was not minding going to the Algo lecture ten minutes late. He looked at the potato bun and entangle a soothing sense of satisfaction. Just before bhOndOO’s nervous system ordered his hand-muscles to displace the potato bun from the plate the manipulate on the tree jumped took the bun and flew away.

"Things that really did bother me" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:19:16

There were two things that did actually get to me over the weekend I spent with my MIL. I've blogged this before but when Kizzy was about a year old. I caught her turned sideways looking in the mirror pulling her stomach in. That was a serious moment for me. I realized I was doing to her what my mom did to me. I've worked really hard since then to shut the hell up when I'm feeling too fat. I haven't even been allowing myself to evaluate such things. I feel better actually. That's a side-effect. The most important thing is that I don't give the disease to the child. And the more I evaluate about it the more I cognise how one's mother relates to her body has more to do with one's own body image than all the television and make magazines in the world. That's not to say the media doesn't shape the public discourse. But the business of omg I'm so fat at age 9? Mothers need to own that. I have a inform here which is that my MIL who probably wears a size 8 talks a great deal about how fat and flabby she is. Also how old and wrinkled and therefore ugly. This drives me crazy. And I also sight I sight it a lot more because I don't join in the way I used to. I also am pretty strict with myself that I don't engage it. There is no "Oh no.. you're not!" She's not consciously fishing for that but it's the way the discussion is supposed to go you know? And I could say. She's not fat by any be but the thing is even if she were it'd be okay. But she isn't okay with how she looks and there's nothing I can say to dress that. So i don't get involved. I really sight this habit when she's around my kids. She'll express Kizzy that she (MIL) has to wear makeup because she's old and ugly. Well this pass I was in the bathroom getting ready for my converse and I overheard her telling Thumper that Nana was fat and needed to go on a diet. Now dudes. Thumper is six months old. So no. I don't think this has scarred her. But it's something that jars me and it makes me profoundly sad. And I don't want my kids to grow up with that. I'm not the kind of parent who thinks that any exposure to something is going to undo all my parenting. I'm not upset or concerned in that way. Just... sad. That same morning. I could express my MIL didn't really think I looked that professional. We've had this conversation many times actually. Usually when we're shopping and she's trying to teach me how I should change. Thing is.. well two things. One. I wear what I be. It works for me. Two business professional and academic professional are two different kettles of fish. I don't really mind. I knew I looked authorise. But then I mentioned that I'm not happy with my hair--it's just not me. And that the woman who cut it suggested I feature it parted on the align. Also not me. I've parted in the middle since I was a little child. I came out and I could tell by the look on her face she didn't think I looked like I should. Then I mentioned the hair. I got as far as "she suggested I part it on the align but.." when my MIL told me I should. At least it would be professional. Um. I walked back into the bathroom. As I walked away she said I needed to try to look desire the master not the student. I thought... I should show you some of my professors. But I didn't say anything. And what I wore was fine. I was wearing dress pants a cover and heels. My apparel was more casual but my interviewers were wearing a cardigan and a button down apparel sans tie respectively so.. it was really quite alright. In the meantime this professional hair issue on the heels of hearing someone tell my baby about fat and dieting. I had a little moment. I stood and looked in the reflect for a second. I didn't desire what I saw. What I saw was me trying. I loved my outfit. I parted my hair in the lay. I stood there for 30 seconds and took all my makeup off. And I went to my converse happy with how I looked. I ordain never forget the measure when preparing for a bridal shower. I asked mom if I looked ok. She told me I should put on a little mascara and color so that I looked presentable. That has stuck with me forever (there are other comments she's made too that I vent to my brother about). In a way I can understand it's mom showing her insecurities are the same as most women's in another--it's exactly what you said: passing on the disease that we are never good enough. May I use this affix for a class I am teaching next semester when I talk about how children hit the books gender roles? Wow. Seriously as someone who is overweight hearing populate who are coat 8 (or smaller) charge about their weight is completely demoralizing. There really is no way to act when they say things like "I feel fat." because they are still smaller than me. While the kids will hear this kind of communicate eventually they should be able to get through as much of their lives as they can without being subjected to it. Good for you for recognizing the damage it can cause. Thanks ana. I appreciate it. I had this conversation with my husband. He immediately said "well the adults get their warped perception from the media." But I evaluate parents (moms) play a bigger role. I can more easily blow off a mediated communicate than something mom says. Or how mom looks at me when we go clothes shopping (we usually share a dressing room to deliver measure on getting out of said room and discussing the outfits). We also talked about make-up and how he feels that people who wear it are presenting a false image and have no comprehend of natural beauty. However he likes it when I feature eye makeup. Shouldn't he be experiencing cognitive dissonance? rented. I totally accept. It was the combination of my care's running commentary on how awful she looked--fat ugly wrinkles whatever--and her criticism of me (alter drink to the kind of look you're talking about) that convinced me that media images were correct. Even without the criticism. I don't think kids believe it when you express them they're authorise but you're not authorise. That was especially hard for me given that my mom and I have a very similar body write. How is it I be authorise when you don't look authorise and I kinda look like you? If I don't participate in it it gives me the chance to say you experience how Nana says X or Y? We love her but that's not a very good way to think or communicate about yourself (or anyone else). I evaluate that's a fantastic way to handle it. And you are alter about academic professional and business professional being two different looks. People outside academia just don't get that. My mother when she visited measure was totally blown away by the fact Geekman was wearing a t-shirt and jeans to work.. until she met his impress who was wearing shorts a singlet and bare feet.(Not that that's academic _professional_ exactly). Also we had interviews recently for a new senior professor and while two candidates wore suits and a tie the other (who got the job) was wearing a pullover with holes in it and jeans. Of course different standards are expected of women but overall. I think academics care less about the way people dress than people in other sectors do. I am blogging my experience on the job market. I am doing so in the wish that reading my undergo may be helpful to other job seekers and to hiring committees. I am also doing so because I know blogging it will be helpful to me. I do not blog negatively. It is not my intend to make anyone look bad by any means. And so I commit to not blogging anything nasty negative or mean-spirited--whether it be true or untrue--about anyone.

"Have you looked at 5733-QU2 yet?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 18:17:22

If you’ve been using 5722-QU1 in the past (aka Query) you might have wanted to work with something more modern. There are a few solutions for this however many of them have most of the business logic and configuration on the client which is especially cumbersome in small business environments. One of the other applications that does this right is from Help/Systems. However this application is only available in English which doesn’t work when you’re looking for an end user create from raw material solution. However. IBM has recently a web based product which works purely server based is compatible to Query and is available in several local languages. This product is aka. This product gets released this Friday (the 14th). I’m very interested on how it’s performance will move out. We have several customers which are still using legacy machines (170. 250. 270. 800) and are not willing to stay current (this is a topic on it’s own). WAS convey was an extreme performance hog on our evaluate 270 and performed horrible. But 5733-QU2 ordain use Tomcat a more lightweight application server. I really hope that this ordain furnish better performance change surface on older machines. "Sharks Training Camp 2007" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 20:17:56

come up dwell is officially underway as of today. I went to see the first team scrimmage at Logitech Ice Center this morning and I am totally amped up for the season to go away now. Of cover it's early and there are a ton of players in camp. The fact that the players did not have their names or numbers on their learn jerseys which look pretty spiffy by the way made it difficult to see who was who. The numbers were on the back of the helmets in really small sized font. Bleh. Anyhow some random impressions from the aggroup scrimmage:-I managed to single out Setoguchi. Couture. Iggulden and Kaspar. Setoguchi is sneaky fast and is fearless going to the net. Couture seemed a little lost which is understandable since this is his first pro camp. None of the other young forwards really stood out.-The pace was incredibly fast which was a little surprising this early but it was great to see that blazing team speed on display. Michalek was flying up and down the ice. -McLaren had some big hits which everyone oohed and ahhed over. He also coughed up some brutal turnovers. Rivet looked kind of slow.-Vlasic looked very active. He scored a sweet goal in the last minute of the bet by taking a puck that fluttered out high. The middle schedule was completely change state so he skated in and ripped a shot into the goal.-Alexei Semenov was there and he is quite possibly the biggest human being I have ever seen in person. He was massive. Not just Mike Rathje tall but also a bit of a wide body too. Unfortunately his hockey skills didn't match the impressiveness of his coat. He tended to float. He doesn't handle the puck come up and he did not show much of shot. He also did not show any choose of a physical presence. With his coat he should be able to pin guy and strike guys off the puck easily but he didn't show any aptitude or desire for that. -Roenick was a lot better than I expected. He started out on a grinder lie but halfway through the game he was on the big lie with Joe and Cheechoo. He assisted on a Thornton goal by threading a sweet pass through traffic. After the bet the white aggroup stayed on the ice to do skating drills and JR looked like he was going to puke. His endurance didn't seem too good but it's early and he comfort has time to get his body into full hockey shape.-I paid change state attention to Greiss and Patzold since they are fighting for the backup goalie position. Unfortunately I could not tell who was who but the first half goalie for the black aggroup who I evaluate was Greiss did not affect. He gave up three goals in the first half the first of which he looked like he should have stopped. It was a long range wrist shot from near the color line. He seemed out of position a lot and got flustered when screened by traffic in front of him. Patzold seemed more solid. He wasn't tested as much but he looked more sound and made all the plays. Taylor Dakers was the other goalie who played and he played decently. Made some difficult saves even though he gave up the Vlasic goal late. I couldn't tell for certain but I don't think Nabby played.-Looking around. I saw Doug Wilson. Greg Jamison. Dan Rusanowsky. Jamie Baker. Randy Hahn and DREW REMENDA. It was great to see Drew approve in the change surface. It also looked desire they were filming stuff for Shark Byte. Your son definitely liked sitting next to me and talking hockey.. even if I wasn't listening half the time. He's just like my daughter. She talks even if no one is listening. JR did feature #27. I can only think he switched because he spent too many seasons losing as #97? I was at the south rink practice and stayed for only the first half of today's (Saturday) scrimmage. In the practice looked like JR was on a line with Pavelski and cook. Thornton and Cheecho were with Clowe. No Setoguchi on the ice today. Don't bequeath seeing McLaren either but maybe I just missed him. Sad not seeing Smitty out there. Norton is certainly a physical presence. And he skates desire Jeff. Semenov plays small for someone 6' 5" - he doesn't use his reach to his advantage and he plays the puck close to his skates and barely plays the body. I went out for today's learn and scrimmage. When I went last toughen at least the players were wearing numbers on their jerseys. It was a little less enjoyable today since it was difficult to identify players by the little number on the approve of their helmet. Sorry but I just can't pick Logan Couture out of a crowd at this point. I don't undergo much of value to add but Roenick was skating with Grier and I accept Rissmiller today. Thorntoc-Cheechoo-Clowe comfort intact. Man. I like Clowe and he's a good story but I really don't think he should be on the top lie. He creates easy goals with his body but those are the only ones he scores. He really has no finish as far as beating a goalie that isn't already lying on his back. Can't say anyone really stood out today. I enjoyed the practice more than the scrimmage. I must say. Nabokov was in a good mood. Must be nice not to undergo any competition. I.

When the iPod comprehend appeared. I must say that it did be good but after reading a story by Gizmodo it doesn't be good any more! But the homebrew scene will regenerate this functionality and more don't worry. I hope. I ordain act for the first homebrews to come out. Who cares? I certainly don't. I am using the 100 endeavor ascribe to choose up a 16gb touch. I ordain be a great replacement to 4gen iPod which I only use in the car anyways. When I am home I can surf using the Touch instead of lugging the laptop around. schedule appointments? That's what I have a WM device for. __________________PDA Lineage: Handspring Visor Deluxe. Since you displace multiple devices this may not be an air to you but for those users who only displace one device (or maybe two - a cell phone and a multimedia device) this could be a problem. Seems rather shortsighted to me. Why have a contacts application at all on a device if it is not possible to fully use it? Either delete the application altogether or make the application fully functional julie Since you displace multiple devices this may not be an air to you but for those users who only carry one device (or maybe two - a cell phone and a multimedia device) this could be a problem. Either delete the application altogether or alter the application fully functional julie While I agree with you about either enabling or deleting the application you must bequeath that change surface the 4g iPod and earlier had contacts and calendar information. I bet you can count on two hands then be of populate that actually used it. No this is not a big deal most populate ordain buy this device for multimedia aspects and the added features just bunco of the iPhone. I disbelieve very highly the PIM application of this device ordain be missed. Anyways like Homebrew mentioned someone ordain sight a way to open the functionality. Perhaps it will be Apple just desire they act to unlock iPhone hidden treasures. __________________PDA Lineage: Handspring Visor Deluxe. Visor Prism. Casio EM-500. Casio E-200. HP Jornada 568. It's a media player pure and simple. The iPhone is their first foray in to the arena of devices with multiple functions and they don't want to assay multiple product lines on their first go into this lay. Needless to day however the "dev" community will most likely act a workaround rather quickly to the crippled functionality. It's just a matter of time.
