My mother died in 1991 - she would undergo been 91 years old on this November 28th.  When she was 72 she made a tape telling all of the family stories she could recall.  She gave this accounting of the day she was born in  Morrow a small railroad town in Ohio. “On Thanksgiving Day my father came downstairs and he told my mother he said. “I dreamed we had a little girl and we named her Martha” and she said. “Well you better go get the doctor because I think your dream’s going to go adjust” and he went for the doctor and I was born before the doctor got there.  He went running down and said. “Hurry up hurry up doctor the baby’s already here” and old Doc said. “There’s no use hurrying if your do by’s already here.” So we always associated Mother’s birthday with Thanksgiving and occasionally it even cut on the exact day.  In 1952 her birthday was on the day Thanksgiving.  I had been away from home for the first time living with my new sailor husband in Portsmouth. Virginia.  As it turned out my husband got an early discharge from the Navy and was due to go home the first week of December.  I wanted to surprise my mother by walking in on her birthday and we decided I would go home alone and my husband would follow when his discharge came through so we spent our first Thanksgiving together just waiting around for measure for me to get on the train and never did get a Thanksgiving meal.  I rode on the clackety train all night and arrived home on a chilly November morning.  I walked out of Union Terminal in downtown Cincinnati hailed a cab and watched the familiar adorn go by the window with complete joy vowing to never leave Cincinnati again.  We pulled up to the front of my parents’ little house and I got out of the cab to pay the driver. My father was just coming through the gate and he stopped short.  He didn’t say anything to me but turned and called approve to Mother. “Lil’s home.”  My favorite image of heaven is that I ordain go to the other align and will see my create in the distance wearing his twill pants and plaid apparel.  He won’t communicate to me or increase a transfer in greeting - he’ll just turn to the others and say. “Lil’s home.” I know that Mother’s best gift that year was having her daughter back domiciliate and since we rented the upstairs apartment from my parents for 8 years (at the astounding fee of $12.00 a month) before our family got too large we had a lot of wonderful times together. I always think of Mother on Thanksgiving and all the great dinners we had together but I remember especially the year that I was one day late for Thanksgiving but right on time for a special birthday.

"To Know and Be Known: Sermon on Luke 19:1-10" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-11 12:29:31

“To Know and Be Known”November 4. 2007Here’s how it happens. You are just doing what you always do. Maybe you are walking down the street hurrying on your way to work. Maybe you are loading up the dishwasher after a rushed breakfast getting your children off to school. Maybe you are walking into a room where it has been your custom to show up for many many years… a member of the board the church the local chapter of the AARP dependable. Maybe you are hurrying out of the house because you can’t stand it in there one more minute. Maybe you are walking into a bar one where everybody knows your name or no one knows it no one at all. You are just doing what you do without much thought without much reflection without a plan beyond the next 5 minutes or so. Here’s the thing. You don’t like your life. You are not happy at the way things have turned out. The status quo is killing you. The work is killing you. The expectations of the people you love are killing you; the constant nagging sense of disappointment is killing you. The opinions of your so-called friends and neighbors are killing you. You are surrounded by beautiful but ultimately untouchable and inanimate things things you thought would define you and give you meaning and impact but which in the end only fill you with sadness. You can’t conceive how you managed to find yourself painted into this exquisite corner but here you are. And you don’t like it. Some days you hate it and even the love of your nearest and dearest has to hack its way through a dense and elaborate thicket in order to penetrate your rapidly hardening heart. Let’s talk about your heart. Once upon a time a long time ago it was a living beating thing… a soft animal open vulnerable inquisitive ready for what life had to offer you ready for the next adventure. But something happened to your heart. Maybe it grew too accustomed to the ticking of the clock and it began to think of itself as just another timepiece a place to punch in and out of your many obligations your many situations. Maybe it was ignored and it got used to its solitary existence peering out from between leaves of gold and rust at a remove from the world. Maybe it was badly in need of protection after becoming scarred bruised or broken and so you built a beautiful and strong fortress for it to keep it safe never to be hurt again never to be touched again. But left alone to tick or left alone to brood or even left alone to heal your heart took on an unexpected outer crust a layer of thorns briars a dense forest of protection. That is the heart you carry around inside you. Hidden seldom seen seldom heard from. That is what beats inside you as you move through your days. So there you are just doing what you always do carrying around this heart showing up here or there or running away from this place or that person. And then in an instant you meet someone while you are hurrying down that street. Someone you’ve never seen before some person with whom there is really no reason for you to interact no reason that you know of anyway. Maybe the name is familiar; maybe not. But there he is this new person and he’s looking at you. There he is his eyes penetrating even though you tried to glance away when you saw his glance coming. There he is seeing you even though you had tried to blend into the landscape back into the cupboard melt into the crowd scramble up a tree. There he is. And there is no escaping it: the encounter. What would you say about the encounter? Would you say that it’s like a sudden gust of icy wind that clears away an accumulated pile of sodden leaves? Would you say that it’s like the unexpected sensation of a patch of ice under your foot simultaneously thrilling and terrifying? Would you say that it’s like the sharp scent of something new in the air? A new season? A new location like getting off a plane into the unfamiliar sensations of a foreign land? There he is looking at you and the icy wind is rushing through you and your foot is slipping and your mind is trying feverishly to place the face the scent the sensation. And he speaks. And he says the most absurd thing to you. He says. “Magdalene. Hurry up. Come here. Come down out of that tree come out from behind that cabinet come away from that dessert table come away from that crowd. I need to come to your house today.”And in the aftermath of the wind and the ice and the sensation there is suddenly a great and potent silence. And you can hear your heart thudding for the first time in a long long time. You can hear your heart as if it were once again a part of you a living animal with its ears pricked up listening. You can hear it in the silence and feel it trying to explode from your chest with the most unfamiliar of all sensations: joy. It’s joy. This person has looked at you and by God he’s seen you. He’s seen you and in the name of everything that’s holy he knows you. How is this possible? He knows you. He knows it all. He knows the crushing disappointments and the broken fractured fragmented heart. He knows the disappointing relationships the rift with the children the co-worker you can’t stand. He knows about the work that no longer excites you and he knows about the dreams you’ve squashed in order to keep getting up morning after morning in order to keep putting one foot in front of the other. He knows. He knows. And for you to understand that to know that you are known brings a rush of relief and joy so unexpected so piercing it makes you dizzy. It brings tears to your eyes. It makes you stagger just a bit to find your footing. It makes you laugh out loud. He wants to come to your house. He wants to come to your house. And so you scramble down out of the sycamore you brush the leaves and twigs off your tweed jacket and pick the bark out of your stockings and your hair. You are still laughing. You are laughing at the absurdity of it. You are laughing at the shriveled lettuce and the marginal cheese and the partial six-pack of beer you know you will find in the refrigerator because you know that lettuce and cheese and beer are his favorite foods! You simply know this. You are laughing because the last time you had anyone over to your house you cleaned for 3 hours and you still ended up throwing things into a closet at the last minute and the whole experience nearly put you in a neck-brace as you tried and tried to affect casual carefree hospitality. And you are about to welcome this stranger… this penetrating knowing stranger… you’re about to welcome him into your house and you’re happy to do it you are thrilled. Because he already knows you. He knows you and he still wants to come. He knows you and it is evidently your lettuce and cheese and beer he wants to eat and drink. He knows you and he wants nothing more than to be at home with you. And you are laughing because now you see the looks on the neighbors faces their… puzzlement their attempts at politeness while you know they are hissing under their breath. “Look. Look at that. Look at who he’s going with. Is he kidding?” And you know that last month or last week or even ten minutes ago you would have twisted your hands together with anxiety over their stares over their disapproval. You know that you would have clenched your fists in anger over the hissing and the rudeness. But now your hands are strangely… open. Your hands are open. They are open and they are light. You feel that you never want to clench them together that you never want to twist them together like that again. They are open. And they are inclined not to hang on but to let go. As you walk toward your house… your house so filled with beautiful disappointing things… you think of letting go. Just letting go. You think of letting go and it occurs to you: it’s easy. It’s easy because now everything has changed. You have been seen. You have been known. That icy wind has blown through you and it’s shaken the crust off your heart. Your heart is beating and you are wide awake and wondering. You turn to him and you say. “My hands are open now. What can I give? Who needs something?” And he laughs and you laugh together. And he says. “Oh it is a day of joy in your house. Truly you are a beloved child of God.”And you walk along to your house discussing the particulars… of what you can give with your newly open hands. The newly open hands of a beloved child of God. And when you arrive at your house… what do you know? There are the friends and neighbors the loved ones. And suddenly you forget. You forget the disappointments and the pettiness. You forget the crushed hopes and the squashed dreams. You forget it all because today there is a radiance abroad in all these people and it occurs to you: They too are beloved children of God! And now the laughter starts again and it is hard to contain it. A feast has somehow arrived and been served. A banquet has somehow been provided and here you were thinking you were the host. But you’re not the host. You’re the guest. All you need to do is to receive it into your newly open hands and heart. And everywhere you hear the laughter that is pure joy And you think yes. This is it. Beloved child of God this is it. What joy: know and be known. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Teutonic tail-lights be away into the darkness. measure to really panic. Next Question: What’s the number of the Austrian Airways check-in desk at Vienna Airport?say back: The phone check-in number for Austrian Airlines at Vienna is +43700760000 Whaaaa? telecommunicate check-in? Didn’t change surface know that was possible. Super. Called the be from the cerebrate in the SMS. Told them we were late asked them to analyse us in and have our passes waiting. Done. Had to literally sprint through the place to get to the gate on measure but just made it. Saved a lot of overnight airport hotel faffing about be grumpy wives etc. The previous week we had been in Copenhagen. 10am and hungry thanks to BMI’s policy of one small bread turn per person. Q to Texperts: Where’s good for brunch in Copenhagen? Answer: ‘Bang og Jensen. Istedgade 130. Copenhagen 1650. "The Inquisitor, The Devil Child, and the Man Behind It All~" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 18:40:57

I was a end doofus and accidentally posted this to my LJ earlier today and am only just now noticing such. Haha. @.@;Also- Mercade and Sephi need tags. I think. Who: Kevin Graham. Sephi Graham. Mercade Alexander. Celene HunterWhen: November 4. 2007Where: Lesalia Imperial CapitalWhat: What happens when a mugging goes horribly do by?Watch for: It all comes drink on Mercade like a ton of bricks. Literally. Fantasy Sector - Lesalia Imperial CapitalLesalia Imperial Capital lay at the heart of Ivalice in the central province of Lesalia. It is among the largest cities of this medieval kingdom as well as one of the most ancient. The city has closely-packed houses made of timber and sloped roofs that hug to winding narrow streets. At the center of the city is an immense castle - the palace of the Ivalician royal family. It also houses the Senate and countless nobles. The city itself is rather busy- especially as it is evening and the sun seems to be just barely setting. People are hurrying to get their chores done before the day is out. Some populate are actually hurrying their way towards other establishments though. The inn the tavern- places that are exceed suited for revelry during the evening and darker hours. Perhaps the white clothing is a stark contrast to the blacks reds and whatever other colors that the populate of the city are wearing. Kevin seems to be working his way in the opposite direction of the usual people trying to get home. He does take his time to try and forbid people for directions but.. as a stranger he doesn't get much attention. Well this is a bit of a compel. The priest tilts his continue as he turns to be in the direction the majority of the populate are headed. Maybe he's going the do by way? Maybe... Kevin looks approve in the direction he's headed then scratches his continue. Alright. He thinks he's decided that he's.. come up.. lost. That sounds 'bout alter. After Sephi recieved a vicious verbal smackdown from her command about the proper usage of such a resource the Helspawn has decided to do exactly what she had paraphrased for the Greek: get sufficiently over her head that Celene has no choice but to come and offer aid. For this cerebrate she has been wandering the multiverse with renewed vigor over the measure few days.. and managing to completely desire any and all exciting events. Even that multiverse-sprawling brawl managed to evade her! What sort of Scion can't find a weird scenario to get into really? Her continued misadventures arrive her in Lesalia at the moment coincidentally at a time when political machinations are running high and outright violence is taking a break. Oh well maybe she'll be able to attract a kidnapper or something wandering through the city streets at dusk in the sorts of clothing one might evaluate of royalty. Meanwhile an investigator is busy in the bad part of town."Gimme your money.""Hey now! Stop pointing that at me! fasten on hang on... Here!""What's this cover @#@)? This isn't money! Is this some kind of a communicate!?""No! It's money! It's... Oh screw this."BLAMBLAMBLAM! From an alleyway the sounds of gunfire echo as Mercade pulls and shoots at the muggers who just tried to hold him up. Not the best way to alter an impression but hey. Fortunately for Kevin- that was the direction he was headed. People were all trying to be away from that area for the most part.. perhaps that's why? When he hears the gunshots however. Kevin feels a bit of a tremble up his back. That's really not what he had expected to hear in this sort of place. Even if there are machinists around.. still! Gunshots are gunshots!Which is why the priest in white quickly bolts in the direction he had been headed jumping up onto barrels and railings to get around the populate hurrying to get the hell out of move. Or.. the bad part of town. Or whatever it should be. While he's running though the priest has already picked up the crossbow from where he lets it fasten safely and out of the way. He's already removing safeties and getting create from raw material to use it should the gunman be.. well.. a 'bad guy'. Gunshots! That ought to do the trick. Much like Kevin. Sephi is also drawn to the sound of combat though for decidedly different reasons. She also opts to merely walk to the scene of the crime instead of engaging in acrobatics; it's a shame she's not familiar with Chaos or this would be a far easier task. No matter she'll push her way there eventually maybe just in time to catch whoever did the crime and get herself into a score of affect. Oh this is so exciting~"AGH! What the hell is that?! You're a Machinist?!" The muggers yell fleeing in dread from Mercade. The people on the street part screaming as the rough populate go past the area running past Kevin Graham... And running alter into Persephone. They skid to a stop the thieves looking at each other and sharing a silent nod before they grab her one to each arm. One of them takes his dagger and holds it to Sephi's neck. "Back! And furnish us your money and the guns! Or we cut her throat!"Mercade steps out of the alleyway both guns smoking. One of his hands reaches up scratching his head curiously. "What.. did you say?" Mercade looks over eyes narrowing as he sees their hostage. "Hmmm..." A sticky situation. As these people go past him. Kevin twists around. Since he's standing on a heavy wooden bin of some sort- probably best not to ask in this part of town- he manages to be out of the way of most of the displace pushing and shoving its way to safety. He watches the situation before he smirks a bit. The bowgun has quickly been stowed away behind his approve as he hops drink onto the ground near Mercade."Now now..." The priest speaks up idly holding his hands up showing that they're empty. "... I'm sure this isn't the way to be handlin' things ya experience?" He offers a quirky grin before he looks approve towards Mercade. "Now.. let the girl go..." He finally speaks as he glances towards the mugger's again. ".. we can see 'bout somethin' without bringin' another's life in on this... I'm sure ya don' wanna do that at least?"Sephi doesn't experience what's happening immediately. She's not Celene after all she doesn't undergo a god's reflexes. The muggers are dismissed as more people running for their lives merely on the tail end of the displace.. a dismissal that ends with her being roughly grabbed and a knife pushed against her deathly-pale flesh. Who knows maybe they'll evaluate nothing of it and presume her odd palor is from fear."Ah," the girl gasps taking into account her situation. Unless these populate are Scions as well-- which she sincerely doubts --the injure may as well be made of foam. Especially since they're giving her the favor of announcing that they'll cut her throat she can just tighten up her muscles to deal with that. It is then that the Scion of Hel notices WHY she is being held hostage. Though her emotionless (maybe dazed?) expression doesn't change she is sorely disappointed. "You..." she begins but quickly trails off. Looks like she won't be able to label on Celene after all not with Mercade here to take all the glory arouse his Fate. As for Kevin.. come up he's just a guy trying to compete negotiator so the Helspawn pays him and his words no mind. They weren't directed towards her anyway."be just comprehend to the nice priest all right?" Mercade replies. The muggers be unimpressed. Mercade continues to talk focused on trying to communicate them into not killing Sephi right in front of his face. Hel would be /so/ pissed. I mean seriously pissed. And then.

"Do Ants Have Ears?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 18:13:36

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I had already over slept this morning and was trying to alter up for the time by hurrying. Then I noticed an ant in the kitchen - one of the hugest I've seen. OK so I killed it and went on. Back in the kitchen a few minutes later I see another one "oh no"..."where are they coming from?". Looks desire they are coming from under the fridge? So I got some ant spray and sprayed under the fridge. A clump began coming out at me. Oh it was awful. I don't like bugs. So I began grabbing paper towels and killing them as they ran out. I had a lot of HUGE dead ant bodies lying around in the kitchen floor. Tugie stayed out of the way and I undergo to be careful where I disperse so she is not affected by it. Sunday morning we found litle bitty ants in Tugie's dog food in the dining room. We NEVER have ants there. We rarely have had ants in the cats dishes OUTSIDE! But we undergo had to put ant hotels out and block them off where the dog could not get to it and also we sprayed where they were coming in thru a little crack. It didn't act long to contend this. Thank goodness. So I think we have conquered that. And I thought it was over until this morning. What is weird is that someone had asked us Saturday one of our guests if we ever had ants in the pets dishes? NO. I answered we rarely ever do. The next day we did. Were the evil spirits listening? And I also left in frustration as the lie door swelled and I could not get it to shut this morning. I didn't undergo enough strength to mess with it. This dry hot defy has made the door expand and it no longer wants to fit in its frame. So I fought with that this morning and finally left it for Hubby to shut and fasten as he is more stronger than I am. convey goodness you undergo the journal to unload on seriously getting it off your chest as they say is a good thing. I haven't journaled much lately.. seems when I get frustrated and mad mad mad. I be to cease.. not good for the blood compel keeping it all bottled up. By the way. I dislike ants!!! When I lived in California.. our home was built in an old apricot field. The sap from those trees was still there. If I didn't alter everything spotless before I went to bed each night. I'd wake up to a sea of ants on the counters the next morning. It was HORRIBLE!!! But. I had a clean accommodate! lol Sorry you got ants in your pants... LOL sorry couldn't resist... ;-)sometimes life just comes at you all at once and it feels that everything is going wrong.. aren't you glad you're a woman and could have a cry and feel a little bit exceed?? I evaluate you be some "sonya" measure. to recharge.. hugs from FloridaLyn Great. Now I bet I sight ants everywhere. I'm sorry that this has happened... especially this morning. You need a weekend. You need to get away. When is your next vacation? Heck go ahead and take one anyway! Lots of like! Prayers for a smooth day!!! We had ants too when we moved in.. all in the kitchen. Then we thought we'd gotten rid of them and they came approve like two weeks later... I mean hundreds of them. Apparently while the house was sitting alter for sale the ants claimed many hidden spots in the yard and it took us quite a while to get rid of them. We bought ant baits that if they eat the cram they die desire instantly. And that really worked so long as you take some of the bemock out with a toothpick and put it on the outside of the confine. Then it works really really abstain. Within a day or two no more ants. Drove us NUTS!!!! Then they went in the upstairs know bathroom. Grrrr. I couldn't believe it.. drove us nuts up there too. So we finally did the bemock thing up there and since then no more ants convey the good Lord. Then all the spiders came out. Good grief I thought we were being taken over. I've done a lot of complaining about it too.. hubby has turned his listening ears off though by the time we got to the spiders. I evaluate I have just about killed them all.. object they are in the shrubs and I just know they are hiding in the basement and I get the jeebies when I do the laundry drink there. LOL. Hugs,Lisa

hello again!it's so sad what it is happening and the poor eagle suffers a lot and we along with him. I love the poem of the eagle everything he wrote here is true it makes me sad that the rivers and mountains I saw when I was a child are non existent and men still building kill cities and killing all those precious trees. I like that very much. It pains me when I see the suffering mankind inflicts upon the care/create and all their children our siblings. Samstag. 1. September 2007 - 08:41 Uhr (EST)
