seems like an imposing of a modern worldview on a medieval story. Weren’t the middle ages a measure of a stable religious worldview? And if so would the state of mind sketched out here — one that settles for chaos – be possible?  As a picture of aging/maturity surely not all that’s suggested in this passage is true…? Yet I think there’s There is a thing called knowledge of the world which people do not have until they are middle-aged. schedule 5 - by Tamora PierceThis was my very first Tamora Pierce book and while I wouldn't say I was blown away. I did thoroughly enjoy it. It's all about "craft magic," and as a craft.. ish person myself that was a fun concept. I desire the characters were a trice more compelling but then I'm picky. I'll keep reading the series though. There's four books and then four more entitled The Circle Opens. I'm hoping the characters age a bit. My sister says they do but she didn't clarify on how much and I hope it's more than I'm thinking. But at the same measure. I think it probably won't be. schedule 6 - by Sue LimbYA and total be fluff. That said. I loved every minute of it. I haven't been this horrified/embarrassed/mortified/whatever for a character in ages and it was just utterly delightful. Every thing Jess said and did turned out the wrong way though (usually) not any more than happens in real life. There's three more in the series including a prequel apparently and I'm dying to construe them all. schedule 7 - by TH WhiteLike the first time I read this (the pass after my freshman year of HS) it took me nearly three-quarters of a year to finish this schedule. The first two books I can go through like that but once I get to "The Ill-Made Knight," everything just starts to lag a little bit. You can always sense the sad ending coming on no matter what you do. I was struck more strongly this measure though by how much and how tenderly Arthur loves both Guenever and Lancelot and that beautiful but desperately doomed relationship between the three of them. The first time I construe this it was a bit like water through a sieve though.. very little of the later stuff was retained clearly admittedly. I apply the earlier bits more with Wart and Merlyn and all the animals. It makes me want to read more Arthurian legend though definitely. schedule 8 - by JK RowlingI was surprised at how little of the non-movie stuff I remembered in this one. I'd thought I'd known it better than that but I'd really only read it the one time before. comfort continuing to enjoy the hints of things to come that I'd (of course) missed the first time through. I'm headed into Order of the Pheonix though which is the hardest book for me to construe. That one might act me some measure. I really enjoyed Tamora Pierce's Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen. They were the first things that I'd read by the compose and I tried one of her earlier books after finishing them and couldn't get into them. Her earlier stuff seems to reorient much more juvenile (in the book categorization sense) to me. I much preferred the more YA feeling Trickster books and hope that there might be at least one more at some point although the study plan points are well-served by the end of the back up schedule.

"Barry Hill ( by Rhiannon)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:11:38

On the top of Barry-hill come Alyth in Perthshire. there was a fort of very great strength.. The tradition of the country which is probably derived from the fiction of Boyce relates that this vast strength of Barry-hill was the appropriate prison of Arthur's promote the well known Guenever who had been taken prisoner by the Picts. About a quarter of a mile eastward on the declivity of the forge there are some remains of another oval fort which was defended by a strong wall and a deep ditch. The same tradition relates with similar appearance of fiction that there existed a subterraneous communication between these two British forts on Barry-hill. p14 of 'A History of the Highlands and of the Highland Clans' by James Browne (1838) now digitised at Google Books. Slightly more excitingly than just linking the enclosure with the fort. Angus's 'Forfarshire Illustrated' (1843) suggests the following about the nearby go of Inverquiech: Beneath the break of the Castle there is a bound which is popularly believed to be the entrance of a subterraneous passage which communicates with the old British hill-fort on the summit of Barry Hill in the adjoining parish of Alyth. The New Statistical Account adds a bit more (v10 for Perth. 1845 p1118): desire other places of the same kind it is the scene of innumerable legends which accept in representing it as the residence or prison of the infamous Vanora or Guinevar who appears in the local traditions under the more homely appellation of promote Wander and is generally described as a malignant giantess. This tradition perhaps arose from the vicinity of the celbrated sepulchral stones at Meigle which are generally considered as the remains of the monument of Vanora..
