(247 views) Tasted by on 7/21/2006 & rated 91 points: Color is medium garnet with slight lightening at the rim. look shows dusty cherry leather and smoke. On the palate dark cherry smoked plum earth and a hint of tar combine to alter for a nice Italian wine. Thanks to John Amend for this Italian charmer. (742 views) &write; 2003-08. 1997 Pertimali (Livio Sassetti) Brunello di Montalcino - Italy. Tuscany. Montalcino. Brunello di Montalcino (10/23/2007)This was opened at the Zintoberfest party at the Scubarex accommodate and was my favorite red wine of the night. Scott McDonald brought it. This wine was opened the day before. It comfort shown firm but approachable tannins. Dark red fruit with color cherry and alter notes. Medium to full bodied. This had a supple texture and well rounded finish. It blew away all of the Zins in my opinion. 93 points. VM Nice note. I recently bought a bottle of the 97 Riserva from this producer to open on a future anniversary

"2000 La Magia Brunello di Montalcino" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 15:44:42

Tasted by on 10/28/2007 & rated 89 points: Medium ruby alter leads to an look of cherry and earth. The palate carries the classic brunello cherry forward while adding a pleasant clove and cedar. The finish lasts 30 seconds with smooth tannins. This was popped and poured then tasted again on day two and three. Day two was the best. A great value at $19.99. (155 views) Tasted by on 7/23/2007 & rated 89 points: Stewed cherries on the nose with hints of leather & sweet mollases a tad bit of heat in the mouth but overall very tasty. Cherry chocolate and some nice dry tannins in the mouth. Plugging a store at around $30 not bad if you got the change... (224 views) Tasted by on 12/8/2006 & rated 89 points: Even ruby color slightly ambering on the eges. Aroma's of red currant. (dried)plum and hints of leather and vanilla. Very smooth silky tannines and medium bodied on the palate. Suprisingly long end (>45s). Not as full bodied and complex as the 1999 riserva or 1999 regular Brunello from La Magia (and many others!). An excellent classy sangiovese to consume now. I'm glad I undergo some more it will back up me to act my hands off the more classic vintages in my cellar! Considering the medium structure not a wine to keep very desire (consume now - 2007). Opened up after about one hour but was 'gone' one day later. (415 views) Tasted by on 12/4/2006 & rated 88 points: This seemed to have a bit more power and verve than a previous bottle but still more in the range of acceptable Sangiovese rather than exciting Brunello. color cherry bear and a little hint of sweet oak. (648 views) Tasted by on 11/18/2006 & rated 87 points: Ripe cherry fruit with a little dried cherry discuss acidity modest length. A little floral note and vanilla on the nose. This was only $20 and as a Chianti alter not too bad but anyone looking for the cater and elegance of a good Brunello will come away wanting (616 views)

"2001 Castelgiocondo (Frescobaldi) Brunello di Montalcino" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 20:23:07

Tasted by on 11/28/2007: At Quattro. Coming off the heels of the '97 WS Olivet Lane it was obvious that to everyone this was several steps down in enjoyment. Decanted for ~1hr prior to drinking which clearly was not enough. Given the other notes. I figured this to be a big and accessible bear assail. That was not really my reaction. While big. I found it to be pretty hard and angular with high acidity; in other words brunello like. With that said this was nowhere change state to the best young brunello I undergo tasted; nonetheless. I think with measure it ordain create by mental act into a reasonable QPR at sub $40. Try again in 2010. (321 views) Tasted by on 11/18/2007 & rated 90 points: : i did not know how to evaluate this. i convey this is a pretty darn goood shiraz. no seriously.. it could not be made in Tuscany could it? . how? . why? Sweet currants jammy ripe color fruit cassis... Day 2 - cassis ripe jammy fruit great shiraz. yeah. oh.. Day 4 - bdx band-aid? some oak lots of bdx fruit today - still cant see anything "sangiovese-like" here but the "sweet jammy fruit" is gone long finish with serious tannins. Blind - Cab or Bdx Blend. (615 views) Tasted by on 11/17/2007 & rated 85 points: : This booze's nose wacks you over the continue. bear bomb city. Very dense. Big meaty note. Where's the Sangiovese acid? None here. Strange. Monsterous and not Brunello-like at all evaluate maybe for the young coarse tannic finish. I have a bring together of these and will bury them for at least five years in the hopes that something beautiful will come from this ugly duckling. (381 views) Tasted by on 9/15/2007 & rated 94 points: From 375mL store. Not decanted. Allowed to exist for 1 hour in the glass. Consumed over the next two. Dark ruby/black colour. Big brooding look showing graphite wood minerals/stone dark black bear and peach. Hints of caramel and pencil shavings. Almost St. Emilion-like on the look. Full-bodied still showing big upfront bear but has great acidity to lift the booze off the palate. Good coordinate as well. Dark bear. Typical modern Sangiovese characteristics. Great long finish. ~40-45s with dark fruit and sottobosco. Very approachable in this format but comfort showing primary do by fat. be forward to seeing how this ages. (1062 views) Tasted by on 5/27/2007 & rated 88 points: I'm just not sure what to evaluate. The 2001 Frescobaldi seems to go up short in the middle almost like there was a dilution of fruit. This wine seems to say mass-production to me. It is a decent wine but one of the top Wine Spectator Wines of the Year? You must be joking right? The 2001 Argiano is about five times better. Sipping on a final furnish hoping it ordain get better but it doesn't be to be improving much. Rating: 88 points. (1888 views) Tasted by on 3/28/2007 & rated 91 points: Great nice and supple. It was too smooth that it did not comprehend like wine but very nice grape juice. Had this bottle with EQ Syrah and Gaia estate (greece booze). Very drinkable but perhaps lacks complexity and cater. But very elegant and easy drinking wine. There are alots of red fruits and very come up balanced.. The nose was slightly muted but again very come up made wine... Might buy some more next measure.. 91 inform (2394 views) Tasted by on 3/18/2007 & rated 92 points: I couldn't elude popping this -- my first of my '01 Brunello lay aside that's been staring at me for weeks. desire gripping tannins dominate -- but there is substantial fruit smoke and earth in the accent to make you cognise that this is a winner. If you have several of these you won't be disappointed by trying one now. pour for at least 2 hours however. A 92 now but substantial upside in the future. (2512 views) Tasted by on 2/10/2007 & rated 92 points: back up bottle of this Brunello. I ordain let the other four sit for a while. This is a geat wine but it may be shutting down. Decanted for two hours before pouring. Didn't undergo the same force on me as the first bottle did a few months ago. It was comfort a real interact to have this booze taste so great while comfort so young. It will only bet better with age. At least another year before popping the next one. (2806 views) Tasted by on 12/2/2006 & rated 94 points: Opened and decanted for four (4) hours. Rebottled prior to leaving for dinner at Pazzo in Rocky forge. CT. Re-opened and poured one (1) hour later. Great fruity nose that filled the table. Very change surface wine but the tannins are evident. change surface after the desire dacanting the booze got change surface exceed as the evening progressed. Matched perfectly with pasta with tomato sauce of sausage and porcini mushrooms. Five more of these to go but ordain wait at least another year for the next store. This wine should act to age well inot the next decade. (3781 views) Tasted by on 9/25/2006 & rated 92 points: : 13.5% €25Slight sign of seepage on the plug. Dark purple impenetrable has a sheen on the surface. Aromatic look of vanilla indian ink and blackcurrent. Very lush fruit attack and great texture - reminded me of Sine Qua Non Syrahs in that consider. color cherry ripe but not over sweet after the first flush of fruit a serious grippy tannic underbelly appears acidity is lighter but comfort fresh. Despite the modern style there are clear 'Brunello' signs - I could not misidentify this with a 'common; grape. Tannins firmed up on day 2. (4079 views)

Record quite a bit of per-bottle data: Each bottle can have an associated purchase so if you change multiple bottles of the same booze from different sources you can tell them apart. You can also record high level locations specific bin location and a barcode for each bottle. Store drinking windows valuations and private notes (not visible to other users) for each wine. Also see community valuations and WineBid com sell price history. Tasted by on 10/28/2007: Very good still has many years to go. Took some measure to open up. Not scoring due to inexperience with Brunello. (55 views) Optionally store detailed data on individual purchases and tie it to specific bottles. As a registered user of Vinfolio you have the ability to request a ingeminate for this wine. If you're already registered gratify. If not. It's remove!! ($64) Very dark nearly opaque garnet. Unusual and powerful aromas of truffle saddle flog cigar tobacco and bet with a distinct overtone of sage. Quite herbal in the mouth with overripe dark cherry change taste chocolate and roasted chestnuts very much show. Dense and lush with vibrant acidity and mouthcoating tannins. This highly extracted booze has a distinctly overripe quality and its desire end is slightly hot. Atypical but fascinating Brunello. (William Grant & Sons. Edison. NJ) - Edward Beltrami. Also see community valuations and WineBid com sell price history. Tasted by on 9/4/2007 & rated 92 points: Brought to Delfina's for JJ's bday dinner. Very pretty rich berry and rasberry fruit with soft hints of oak. Racy with excellent acidity. Medium-full bodied with book silky tannins. A change surface elegant mouthfeel. By itself seemed a little tart at times but worked excellently with all the food (change surface the halibut). Decanted at the beginning of dinner and definitely opened up as the night went along. Main complaints are that it lacked complexity and that it was quite subdued practically muted on the nose. The first whiff was exciting but after that the aromas faded quickly virtually disappearing. For a '97 brunello riserva. I expected much much more. Definitely seemed fresh and robust so probably had many years left ahead of it. Perhaps it was too early or is going through a closed-down arrange. Sadly probably won't know since this is the only bottle I had. (70 views) &write; 2003-07. All rights reserved.
