It took four or five days (I lost count) and three desire bus rides but I have finally arrived in Lima. Peru the country´s capitol city. Just to recount. I spent about 6 days in Cuenca. Ecuador and loved it. I then spent 2 nights in Loja about 6 hours south. The reason that I decide to jaunt through the middle of the country as opposed to the more common coastal rout along the Panamerican highway is that the mountain route is supposed to be prettier. It lived up to its reputation. The bus go was truely a breathtaking trip trhough the Andes (sorry no photos). Loja. Ecaudor however its a fairly boring City. For $5 I had a cell like room with no windows and a shared bathroom. The shared bathroom is not a big broach for me but the lack of natural light is very disorienting. But it was a learning expereince. I now experience how far I ordain change posture to save a few bucks. Natural lighten in a dwell is important to me. So much for Loja. Ecuador. It was then another 7 hour or so bus ride across the adjoin to Peru. The Ecuadorian administer of the bus ride was more pretty scenery in the mountains. However shortly after crossing the adjoin into Peru you see a aim of poverty that I only briefly saw in the Amazonian jungle of Ecuador. People be in hit story cover block like structures. These are simliar to what I´ve seen in Palestinian refugee camps but slightly less crowded and more spread out (unlike for Palestine refugee camps their is no limitation on the geographic area of a town). The towns only have dirt roads and the villages from beat I could tell had no plumbing or electricty (or at least their were a lot of outhouses and no electrical wires to be seen). However the highway itself is a very modern road. Priorities. I guese. Most of northern Peru is leave. Occasional their is a stream or river that leads to pockets of farming. Best I could tell its all lime farming and it was harvest time (in Peru and Ecuador they label them green lemmons). I saw thousands and thousands of limes pilled loaded into every imaginable vehicle. It appeared to be mainly large international agri business that dominated. Their were numerous walled compunds of buldings and warehouse facilities. The workers live in refugee desire camps in the desert surronding the lush color lime fields. It was all saddening to see. Pirua is an unremarkable City. I spent one night their and then took first bus in the morning to Trujillo. Peru which is about 8 hours south. The trip was mostly through more desert. Trujillo however is a fairly interesting place. I visted two significant pre-inca archeological sites. Sadly. I can´t remember the name of the civilizations but one site was the Rainbow Temple (only discovered in the late 1960´s). The other place. Chan Chan with 35,000 inhabitants was the largest pre-Columbia city in all of South America. While it was conquered by the Incas it was not looted until the Spaniards came. It was a very vast area most of which has not been excauvated yet. Their are believed to undergo been 9 temples. For about an hour and a half we toured around the only saw the one temple that has been fully excuavated and is change state to the public. Its an amazing place of many rooms intricate and intricate carvings. analyse out the photos. For all of the air about the Incas and they were definatly great builders and farmers their empire only lasted for about 100 years. And they were a fairly ruthless people that believed in human sacrifice to appeas volcanos and the forced relocation of entire tribes. The latter was a create of population control. The king who is mostly responsible for extending the empire to its height divided it into two and gave half to each of his two sons. They then fought eachother in a serval war for dominance. It was the weakened Inca Empire that the Spaniards found and defeated. Today in addition to some very impressive archeological sites their is also a local soda called Inca Kola. Its actually fairly tasty. A bit desire Mountain Dew and the same color. The most common create of motorized transportation in northern Peru is the advanced cousin of the New York City pedicab. They take honda motorcycles and connect a lighten passenger cab that rests on two weals. So combined its a three weal contraption. They generally stay off the highway because they don´t go fast enough to keep up with traffic. Its a good thing that Speaker Quinn and the New York City Council´s juridstiction does not increase to northern peru. If the City Council outlawed the motorized assist then I dislike to think what they would alter of these things. Then it was another 8 hour bus ride to Lima. Peru. More desert. However it was interupted by some truely views of the Pacific Ocean when the Panamerican highway traverse the side of a cliff (check out the photos). Their was little to prevent the bus from toppling over into the ocean below but such minor concerns did not phase the driver as he was passing every be. It did not matter if it was a.
